Turns out - the two weeks in the cast was the easiest bit.

Make a wrong move and try and move my arm or use my hand for anything other than lightest of light tasks.

Ouch!

So,
Got a letter from CSA assuring me that they would now cease taking payments. With effect from August. August payday being the last such payment. I've agreed to pay my daughter the 235 a month plus some extras for the months she's at university.
So, it's freshers week and she's booking her train ticket to comicon as well
So sent her 375 last night.

Checked my payslip - bloody CSA deduction.

So my ex wil receive an additional payment today

 :fp:

Hopefully my daughter will phone her mum
and she'll send her the money and phone CSA to tell them of their error.

Otherwise

My daughter is negotiating. It's like in the EU and my stance is - pay up!

My ex is trying to shortchange me by 85 quid!

Why? It's not like this can be a mistake either, these are some pretty simple numbers to be working with.

Every year my dad shoves a birthday card through my mum's door for me(he doesn't know my address), knowing full well that it upsets her, she's usually in the house, that I don't actually live there, and haven't for a couple of years. I changed my surname back in 2014, but he puts the old one on the envelope. This year he's signed it on behalf of some woman I've never heard of or met before(he also put a Blackburn fanzine through the door alongside it  ). I don't know whether to send him an email asking him to stop sending stuff or just to ignore it.

It is hard to offer advice without knowing the background, Cora, but if you are unsure about what to do then I’d suggest taking the “ignore” option rather than the “please stop” option. I only say that because, from past experience of family disputes, if all bridges are burned then it can make things more difficult when (if) relationships become less strained and thaw a little bit in the future.... even though, right now, you may think that will not happen.

Do you have a relationship with him? I see my dad 2 or 3 times a year now tops and it's desperately sad :(

In my family we had an instance where we didn’t communicate with an aunt and her family for around twelve years... horrible things were said and people took things in unintended ways and... that was it, a comunications breakdown and a rising resentment.

Recently things have thawed and we have all seen each other now and again. It’s not perfect and there are probably still one or two grudges held by various people but the situation is better than it was. And that is off the back of folk saying they’d never speak. Time can sometimes heal and you can never be certain how things will pan out.

I've seen him once since 2014 and am fairly uninterested in ever seeing him again. He's been a pretty disgusting human being for most of my adult life.

Not seen my dad since I was 12, he was a banana split so no great loss. He has tried to contact me previously on Facebook etc. but after talking to him briefly and asking a few questions I know the true answer to see if he is the same old banana split it was clear he was still a banana split so that was it.

I have a half sister that also tries to chat to me every so often about how much of a gooseberry fool he is but I'm not sure if it is him manipulating her to do it as its the sort of thing he would do or her so I pretty much ignore her too.

GRcade dad issues o/

I spoke to mine for the first time in years on Sunday. It's a bit rubbish, I don't see this getting fixed any time soon, possibly ever.

That's messed up, Cora.

Sorted it out with my ex. CSa have messed her about a lot it seems. She's sending me the dough.

Just got a sick note for a further four weeks. Some pain meds and meds for my gout.

All in all a good day. Out for tea now with my awesome friend who cooks for me.

Living the dream.

Following on the Dad path, I haven't seen mine since October 2014. Alcoholic unfortunately. It wasn't all bad or anything like that. It's a funny feeling. I don't miss him, but I don't hate him either. I'm just now contented not seeing him. He mixes and involves himself with people that I would rather be oblivious to. The council gave him a flat somewhere. I believe it has a pretty nice view of London and it's only costing him £8 a month.

I get on with my dad, but he lives in Malaysia (where his business is based) with some tart so only comes back to the UK for Christmas and maybe once in the summer to see relatives (who all live up north). Normally this equates to seeing him for 2 evenings every 6 months, so about 5 hours total for the year. It wouldn't bother me all that much if I didn't have my daughter missing out on knowing her grandad, but that does irk me something powerful. He's helped pay for stuff but I'd rather have him actually be around than just a chequebook at the end of the phone.

It's just this kind of distant, disconnected relationship where we'll catch up and chat about the football or the garden or my car etc, just a very light touch kinda thing. Mildly depressing :(

My dad has worked abroad for most of the last 25 years, mostly in the middle east though he's in Pakistan at the moment. He's home a bit more often these days, but when I was a teenager he'd usually only be home twice a year for about a fortnight at a time.

Haven't spoken to mine since May 2008, and have no intention of doing so ever again.
