See this is clever...

Image

The one time I can remember Rick and Morty doing something that was even remotely clever was when Rick Morty, and Jerry got abducted by those aliens and put in a simulation...

but because they were squeamish about nudity he could tell who was real as the simulations didn't have genitals. Then it turns out the aliens overcame their squeamishness, and gave simulation Morty genitals but somehow Rick still knew because he is just so clever and smart and the best and Wuba Luba Dub Dub :| :| :|

One thing this whole thing has convinced me to do is never to watch Rick and Morty.

Rick and Morty is quite funny on occasion, but I think it honestly peaked in Season 1 (when the focus was more on wacky adventures, and Rick's sociopathy was still novel).

Internet nerds ruin anything that they get excited about so I just ignore them. I actually get a bit annoyed if anyone tries to tell me about them. "Did you see these idiots on Twitter-" no I didn't, shut up.

The worst is when a Twitter """""controversy""""" makes it onto BBC News. I get absolutely anally annihilated whenever I see it. It's not news! It's just gobby thick people being gobby and thick! :x

This boils my piss, too.

The BBC have clearly brought someone on from a commercially driven site, presumably to "improve" their online offering, but it's meant a whole slew of really clickbaity content making its way on there, including all these online trend pieces ending up in the news section.

I miss the days when BBC news was happy just being boring and straight lace.

At least when I come out with some hot take on here, it isn't picked up by The Guardian and used in a moralistic, condescending op-ed on what toxicity and problematic behaviour in social media really tells us about our awful society.

Nor does the BBC take it as a barometer of public opinion, or (this is the absolute worst) as a replacement for the thoughts of an actual expert.

God I hate it.

People's inability to use the block button on social media is baffling. If someone is a stupid bollix then you block them. It's the easiest thing in the world but so many people seem incapable of performing that simple task.

It's to do with win/lose mentality. People's approach is "I can't "win", even though I know I'm entirely right and you'r ea completely atrocious lunatic unless you lose (and to lose you have to admit it)"

Mute is better, because it deprives people of the ability to screenshot that you've blocked them.

I really think it's disgusting how few media outlets properly reported on this whole Dove "controversy", cynically fueling the outrage further. The Guardian, just one example of many, ran the original story on the 8th October, but only corrected it on the 10th, admitting at the base of the rejigged article "This article was amended on 10 October 2017 to include more information about the advert’s sequence.", the model in question writing yesterday and then this morning talking on BBC Breakfast (8:20am-ish if you want to watch it on iPlayer) to set the record straight on a few things, and how proud and excited they all were for the campaign.

I bet many of the journalists themselves didn't even watch the full commercial, investigated its context, or maybe they even intentionally hacked the advert up for screen grab purposes.

I think if someone has a high enough number of blocks compared to their user count then Twitter is less likely to show their content as part of search results. That's my reasoning anyway.
