Feels great doesn't it

In other news I'm retardly skint.
One week til payday and there's nothing left. Filled up with fuel and did a food shop last night, but it's scary really.. I'm having to sell all kinds of gooseberry fool to keep above water at the moment :(

Would scheduling a meeting with my bank help? To talk about helping me out of debt? Or would they laugh me out of there?

What's the source of your problems?

It's if to do with debt repayments/mortgages etc they might be worth talking to about restructing or payment holidays if a short term issue

I've come close to this but just about avoided it which is nice.

First thing that really helped was making a chuffing great spreadsheet that has all your in goings an dout goings on it and forcasts based on "normal" figures it really helps see the scope of the issue and how you can improve it, if you don't have one I'd sort one out (give me a shout and I'll fire you a link to download the one I built so you can use that).

Second once you have a spreadsheet sorted is to work with the numbers and see how much you need to trim etc. and priorities as some payments / debts are far more important than others, so once you have an idea of how much you can afford and that you can call credit card people and loan people and explain the situation and come up with payment plans to try and help ease the pain. These will show on you credit report but bad credit is probably better than no money and home so it may be better to just take that hit especially as a payment plan looks much better than defaults and what have you.

Yeah it's mostly that my rent, bills etc has been going up and our money coming in is much lower in the last year with the missus being on maternity leave, and now she'll be doing fewer hours due to having to look after the boys.

So more and more often it's been putting little bits on the credit card each month and it's massively snowballed (lol gay) now.

We don't live lavishly, I drive a 12 year old car, we don't go on holidays, shop at Aldi & Lidl, I don't buy beer anymore, no days out etc.
It's just the money coming in doesn't meet the requirements of the money out.

And we're getting claustrophobic in our house now we've got two boys.
And we cannot afford to rent somewhere bigger.

Not sure whether to ask them for a debt consolidation loan just to make the outgoings lower for a few years while I scramble to get back on my feet.

Either that or a Life insurance Suicide scam. That ought to sort it! :|

It's OK Lewis, we'll come together as a forum to pimp Hexx out and raise some cash.

In all seriousness I'm sorry you're in that tight situation. Definitely sounds like the bank might be able to help you consolidate & restructure debt payments if that's a big part of your outgoings.

Yes please pal, I know if I tried to make one, it'd look gooseberry fool, not work properly and I'd scrap it.

No one will pay. I can't even give it away for free at the moment :(

Errkal's plan sounds sensible Lewis - go in with a plan or a proposal, where you can make things work if they give you some leeway. They're much more likely to agree if it'll look like it'll achieve positive long terms results (for them :P)

Edit

Not sure whether to ask them for a debt consolidation loan just to make the outgoings lower for a few years while I scramble to get back on my feet.

Missed this until Moggy's post - he's absolutely right. It might be terminology you're using, but talk to your lenders/bank first about altering existing plans - don't approach a "debt consolidation" company. They're nasty sharks.

I think Errkal’s spreadsheet is the best place to start. See if you can identify any savings that you could make, or a way of budgeting that could save you a few quid.

If not, then maybe speak to the bank and/or your credit card provider. They might be able to restructure the repayment plans, freeze interest or come up with some other solutions.

A consolidation loan should be your absolute last resort. You really need to avoid doing that unless you have no other choice. While it might sound good and look good on paper, in reality it will only ever put you into more debt in the long term unless you properly restructure your finances.

You aren't aiming low enough. We'll have you lie in the street with one of those charity pots next to you, I'm sure some people will pop in 50p after they're done.

You could earn a few bob shovelling horse gooseberry fool around moggy's way by the sounds of it.

Sounds like you're sensible with your money though.
