That’s ok at the moment, but it won’t be so good when Harry divorces her. ;)

Just found out that another person I grew up with has died in a motorcycle accident.

That’s three now killed on motorbikes.

Seriously, strawberry float motorbikes.

Sorry to hear that. They are an absolute death trap though.

We've got a young guy on our team at work who commutes on his motorbike and in various discussions we've had with him about the dangers of it he simply refuses to acknowledge the risks. Even when presented with the stats on death and injury rates compared to pretty much every other form of transport he just shrugs his shoulders and says "it's not that bad".

Unless for some reason people have no other choice but to ride motorbikes I just do not see why anyone does it.

I have only ever had driving lessons and a CBT for a bike. I much rather riding a motorbike to a car. It's so much better.

True. It's hard to see that side of things when three friends have died doing the same activity though. Motorbikes might be fun but they are killers, far more so than a bungee jump or travelling in South America.

The first was one of the worst things I have ever experienced, he was one of my best friends and died aged 21. The sight of his father basically having to be carried into the church for the funeral will never leave me.

The second was a few years ago, we were friends at school but I hadn't seen him for a while so we were no longer that close. It was still awful though and another day of seeing a devastated family unable to cope with their loss.

The third I only found out about yesterday, I haven't seen him for a couple of years but he leave behind a wife and a couple of young kids. Just such a waste.

I was in a band at school with a guy who died a few days after going straight into a van when it pulled out of a junction having not seen him coming down the road on his motorbike.

He never got to see his 18th birthday. :( We had grown slightly apart by then because I'd gone to college while he went straight into trade, but I still considered him a good friend.

Think you have to be straight up nuts to be a biker.

Sounds almost identical to my friend who died at 21. He was on his bike heading up a road, a van pulled out into the road without looking and that was it, he was gone.

Bikes might be fun and I wouldn't ban them or anything, but I have lost too many people now to ever think that they are worth the risk.

Since moving to Yeovil about 5 years ago I know 2 people who have died on bikes and one who is now blind for the rest of his life after an accident.

I rode a bike when I was back in London so get the appeal, but can't help but feel you are genuinely putting your life at risk everyone you go out on one. :(

I was in Lidl this morning and there was this middle aged bloke ranting and raving at the self service checkout. He'd tell the female computer to "Shut up!" every time it spoke, and kept saying "Stupid thing!", "I hate these blasted machines!" and getting more and more agitated with each passing item. I finally turned around and perched atop everything was a copy of the Daily Mail.

People who haven't figured out how to use self-service machines by now should probably be culled. The amount of thickos I see scanning the item then putting it in the wrong area and getting angry at the machine... :fp:

"These things never work!"

"Modern technology for you eh?"

No, you're just too stupid to use something that has been designed specifically with stupid people in mind.

In Lidl on many items the barcode actually runs the entire length of the box and is on multiple sides (to speed up the checkout process I presume).
