Just fake your own death. If they fall for it they won't bother you again, and if they find out they will be so disgusted by your actions they still won't ever talk to you again.

It's a win no matter what!

Agreed.

There's not a more "details" man in the world who I would rather help me with my Finance.

Normally I let these slid but considering that this helping someone, piss off.

I make typos and yeah my spelling isn't great but doesn't mean I don't have an attention to detail.

My issue both in life and typing here is that I type a little too fast on the phone and that causes odd auto corrects, also I just plain can't spell very well, I tend to write how stuff sounds and that doesn't always match up with autocorrect either.

Most of the time my posts have odd word substitute which where I have knocked the space bar or a full stop and that's caused some strange words but I don't notice as am busy writing the rest of the post and don't go back.

However this spreadsheet thing is something I have spent the last 3 years using and working on and use myself as I was until pretty recently in a similar situation so if anything I can do using what I have learned can help all the better, however I don't need smart arse remarks that anything I do my not be very good because I make typos and odd word substitutions.

Apologies for going all Gecko in my post length.

One week til payday and there's nothing left. Filled up with fuel and did a food shop last night, but it's scary really.. I'm having to sell all kinds of gooseberry fool to keep above water at the moment :(

Would scheduling a meeting with my bank help? To talk about helping me out of debt? Or would they laugh me out of there?

Speak to your bank they should have a 'money management' service which is a specialist department to help people who find themselves in your position, it's now something like 3/5 adults in the UK are struggling with debt.

If your bank does help or you want a second opinion look up the money advice service, free and independent money advice because they're funded and run by the government.

Failing that there are also debt charities who could help you, such a step change.

Hope you get the help you need pal.

Had my bank appointment.
Not sure the outcome was what I wanted.. :/

They can't offer any consolidation loan or 0% card because I'm always in my overdraft each month (I wouldn't have gone if I wasn't!).
She said they can't reverse the overdraft charges that have taken me over my overdraft limit yesterday.

I was given a pamphlet and a card for a debt advise company to ring "They help people like you.. in your situation".
They open Monday so I'll give them a call. Apparently they can make card companies freeze interest and banks from applying charges. Then they negotiate with them on my behalf to work out payment plans.
Probably my best bet to get out of this scenario.

It was funny though, she took my income, deducted the outgoings then said:
"Well, you have approximately £80 disposable income each month, so you should be fine each month, in theory."

"Yeah but then you apply a £95 charge each month for going so far into my overdraft"

I would look at calling companies to arrange plans yourself as well, there are charities and companies that will sort plans for you but they look worse on your credit file that something you arrange.

If you arrange it then it becomes a "arrnaagenrnt to pay" which doesn't show as anything on you file it just shows you payment amounts have changed, if they do it it can be different and show as a plan which shows for longer.

Most credit card companies can sort it all over the phone I did it for mine I had a year on a plan with Barclaycard where I have very very low interest applied and made a set payment and over 12 months I wiped a huge amount of the balance that wouldn't have been possible whilst also paying less a month doing it.

If you have any loans etc do the same.

My plan of attack would be this:

1. Sort that spreadsheet as it gives you visibility of everything and use it day to day to keep pretty much real time tracking of how each purchase impacts you over time
2. Look at stuff you can just cancel, TV packages etc are generally pointless when most of what's on TV is available for free using iPlayer, itv hub and Freeview that is built in to 99.9% of TVs
3. Now you have a list of all your expenses call you most expensive per month creditor explain the situation and sort a plan and then update your spreadsheet
4. Repeat with each creditors reducing your monthly outgoings and giving yourself more breathing space

It is a slow process but it will massively help and in time all will start to come good again.

Is it also possible to switch to another bank with better overdraft facilities which might save you a little bit on the overdraft charges each month?

This is worth looking good attitude too it depends of the state of your credit score right now as it may be at a point where you can't as another bank won't provide the overdraft facility to swap to.

Lewis, it's pure gooseberry fool that someone can work full time and still not quite scrape enough together to support a family. Like having kids is some kind of luxury only accessible to those who earn above a certain wage. After hearing about three people at work with apparently disasterous credit and spending habits get finance for cars through a credit union you could maybe try there. They appear to be more lenient thank banks, who it seems only gives loans if you don't actually need them.

Weren't there plans to change overdraft rules so that banks couldn't charge an excessive amount?

Sister had vertigo and hearing problems. They thought there was a growth in her ear they did an MRI today and there's a lesion (?) on her brain. Mum said it's benign but they've carted her off in an ambulance to Aberdeen for an operation. Just have to wait and see I guess I'm sure it's fairly routine for them and they're doing it for quality of life as she has spins/vertigo 247 just now.

I can’t remember what happened specifically but my Dad had this problem with Barclays. He ended up going to court and they finally scrapped it (and put a halt to having an overdraft). It was like a self fulfilling prophecy as he could never fully pay off the overdraft so they just kept hitting him.
