Oh man, Richmond sausages.

On a weekend away with the lads (oi oi!) I was lumbered with doing a food shop for breakfast and thought 32 sausages for £2 (or whatever it was) worth of Richmond sausages was decent value for 5 lads having a hungover fry up. I got so much gooseberry fool for that decision I still haven’t lived it down.

I still think they’re great though. Bloody sausage snobs.

I get sweet chili sausages from the butcher. They are badass.

A butchers rnear me does some marmite sausages, I've not had them but a mate was saying whenever he sees them he buys then by the kilo to put in the freezer

Marmite sausages? That sounds quite interesting.

No it doesn't.

I can't believe we've resorted to defending Richmond sausages.

Ha, they can't even manage that. They're 42% pork. So Irish is the recipe in fact, they use pigs from various unspecified EU countries. The rest of it is water and rusk. The sausages are then mixed with Guar Guam to stop them falling apart, and coloured with cochineal to keep them looking like the insides of your wife's vagina.

I was surprised to see KK mentioning the Irishness of the recipe as I'd never heard of Richmond sausages before. A quick check online reveals that they are produced by the Kerry group, an Irish company. However, they don't sell an equivalent to them here with the nearest being Galtee sausages which are a whopping 55% pork in comparison to the Richmond's 42%.

We must demand higher standards in our sausages.

Consider me told as I thought Richmond sausages are alright :shifty:

So what sausages should we be aiming for in the weekly shop?

Whatever ones you think taste nice.

If that's Richmond then stay buying them.

I eat vegetarian sausages, then at least I know I'm not getting any meat in them rather than just thinking I am
