Won, the wun and only way to pronounce it.

I presume you think this is wrong then?

It's sort of inbetween. Not quite as 'one' as I'd pronounce it but nowhere near the 'wun' I heard the other day.

I still think these non-wun people are trolling.

How are you pronouncing one as wun is how it is said. So what crazy ass way do you say it.

I'm watching Soccer Saturday and as teams score for the first time they're all described as going 'one' nil up or equalising to make it 'one one'. Absolutely no one says 'Oooh unbelievable Jeff it's wun wun!!!'

But phonetically that is exactly what they say, the 'w' sound followed by "un"!

I've just spent the last 10 minute's trawling YouTube for BBC continuity announcements from TV and radio, sports reports, news reports, even music videos and can only find examples of people saying "wun". If it's a good enough pronunciation for Chesney Hawkes then it should be good enough for anybody!

Ranting here because the wife follows me on Twitter

One of the shittest days in years today. Until last night I was expecting a nice weekend to ourselves after a not-particularly great week, mental health wise. Haven't been feeling too hot so just wanted a nice few days. Then, at 10.30pm, she tells me "Oh, we're helping my friend move in tomorrow. We need to be at hers at 9am I'm going to bed night.

Fine. We go, we help, it's tiring (pulling a three seat couch , fridge-freezer and oven up 5 floors of spiral staircase tiring) but we finish at around 4pm. We get home, I flop onto the bed. "Oh we need to return the composter I bought it's a 40 minutes tram ride and a walk ok let's go." I ask if we positively HAVE to go tonight but of course we do.

So we go. So we walk from the tram to the commercial park to the other side of the commerce park then along the highway then we dodge traffic to get to the other side then we can't get to the store as it's across another motorway so we walk to a bus stop no not that bus stop the one that's a 20 minutes walk away and oh no the bus is super late but we get it and then oh no she's doing the navigation but we miss the stop and the next one is 10 minutes down a highway so we get out and the next bus the other way is 20 minutes wait but we get to the shop and oh no there's the guy we need having a leisurely chat with some people and not helping us then he helps us the but disappears for 20 minutes and he's back and strawberry floating around so we miss the return bus and have to wait half an hour for the next one which is another 20 minutes late.

It took us 4 strawberry floating hours to return a compost bin. My back is in agony, my head hurts, my feet are bloody and I'm so strawberry floating tired.

I'm strawberry floating done with today.

Honestly one of the biggest divides I've had to broach in my relationship is the fact that my wife doesn't drink. I miss, so so much, going out for a casual drink with my significant other. She hates the very idea of 'drinking culture' so even a nice evening at a bar or brasserie is out of the question as she'll get bored after one soft drink and want to go home (which happened a few weeks back and led to a huge argument).

I might just buy myself a nice bottle of rum for the evenings.

It's a tough one, I know I found it tough with an ex who didn't drink and was a fussy eater as that ruled out 90% of what I enjoy to do socially.

Anung isn’t mad on sporty things, or eating fancy and stuff. But I’ve got banjo for that. It works because he’s not forced into cycling trips he won’t enjoy and my day isn’t spoiled by him being a pissy boots.

Thats a bit pathetic, can she not enjoy chatting or something. Going for a bar is about getting plastered. It doesn't sound like she is really trying and just going "nope see hate it".

My wife isn't mega into pubs etc but she will go and we will chat and stuff as just because you are in a bar doesn't mean you have to get twatted.

why not just tell her to wait until tomorrow if she really needs your help, or if it's so urgent, just go on her own.

not that my own fiancee is best pleased when i respond this way, but if i cant be arsed, i cant be arsed. like deal with it

Yeah I'd do this too, if you don't want to just say no you don't have to do it just because she wants to. This is why so many people are under the thumb with the wife etc because they just do everything they are told blindly, yeah you get a quieter life that way but you have no freedom at all.
