If that’s true that’s the lamest gooseberry fool I think I’ve ever heard.

I'm afraid it's true. I actually removed some cringe from the story for the sake of brevity. Click at risk of cringing so hard you become an embarrassment black hole and enter the shame dimension:
So this happened when I was student, and a bunch of us were drinking together. My friend says she has a funny, cringey story to tell us, and says she met this guy, he seemed nice, but... "then when he was finishing, he like shouted this thing, it was like a magic spell. It was really sudden and awkward. Afterwards he told me it's from some videogame he likes." She's not in to games, so it wasn't even an attempt to make her laugh or anything.

At this point - and bear in mind Oxford is a very small world, and there's usually at most one degree of separation between any two students - another pal of mine interjects, 'Err, was his name [dude's name]? Did the spell sound like FUS ROH DAH?' She's like, what, yeah, how...? It turns out he knew the dude, though not well - I had actually met him in passing too a couple of years before - and apparently he's been telling the story to absolutely anyone who'll listen. Seems to think he's pulled off something absolutely hilarious.

By this point we were pissing ourselves, and she's obviously cool enough to see the funny side, but she was basically mortified that there was, like, this parallel neckbeard social group out there that all think she got owned by this weirdo.

 Jesus strawberry floating Christ. That is tragic.

My Runescape account has been hacked and banned.

I got a members account through twitch prime, and so thought I would give it a go as I hadn't tried it for at least 3 years or so, I stopped playing years ago, when I was in high school, I downloaded the client, tried to log in and it told me my account got banned in 2017 for using macros. WTF! As if having all my stuff stolen, which I'm sure they did wasn't bad enough. I had a Halloween mask, and Santa hat! :x

strawberry floating idiots.

Evil is a make-believe concept we've invented to deal with the complexities of fellow humans.

:fp:

Yes I imagine a majority of people generally are decent enough, for the most part. But there are also people who are genuinely and undeniably nasty and who are likely to kill you if you go for a strawberry floating bike ride through their back yard. Here's a hint, they're called terrorists.

I must be honest I don’t have much sympathy for them - it’s breathtakingly naive and stupid to think you’ll be alright biking through one of the most dangerous areas on the planet.

There's a mix of people in every culture and social group. Look anywhere and you'll find a lot of generous people, but an equal number of selfish people, and then a dark underbelly of a few really quite bad people.

If your base your society/community on good principles and police/moderate it effectively you can skew the ratios, but there's nowhere out there where every single person you run into is nice.

Living your life in fear is obviously a ridiculous way to respond to that fact, but ignoring it completely and going biking through ISIS territory is mental. I'm sorry for the loss of people who were probably quite nice, though.

I've just realised after 5 years of being in my house that there's a power switch in my living room next to the phone sockets and I have no idea what it does or what it's for. It's been switched off for the full 5 years since I bought the house and moved in and I'm worried about what might happen if I turn it on.

My switch is white rather than red. It's one of those switches with a fuse next to it.

That’s a bit harsh, it’s just a switch in Laga’s house.

Harsher than I would have put it but I find it hard to argue with.

Idiotic, even fatal levels of naivety on show there.
