I'm not aware of what the laws are in France, but that sounds like some grade A bullshit right there!

We're doing some checking but the apparent long and short of it is this:

The equivalent of the MOT in France states that cars must be roadworthy and 'maintained.' When the mechanic was inspecting the car he was doing so with this in mind.

Essentially, the car would not pass an MOT's 'maintained' criteria in the state it's in, and as the cost of repairs is more than buying a new car of the same model and year, he has to scrap it. He's said we could go ahead with the repairs but we'd have to source the parts and then get new MOT done (which would probably involve more repairs and costs).

It's the bullshit 'maintenance' criteria of the French MOT that means we've lost our car due to it getting scratched whilst parked.

strawberry floating hell.

EDIT: Behold, car ending damage:

Pretty ironic when you consider the cars that France manufacturers.

I'm pretty surprised that their MOT testing would care about that.

Just noticed I sent myself a text message last night at 9PM but I can't remember sending it or what it means.

I genuinely can't remember what I was doing at 2 yesterday. That sounds like a bad defence in court.

Given you can't remember what you were doing at 9pm or 2pm yesterday, I can only assume you started drinking about 8am and spent the entire latter half of the day blackout wasted. Which is pretty bold for a Thursday, well played.

Had a dream that Denster sold Jawa a posh campervan and he was keeping it stored on the roof of a multistorey car park

We've decided to fight this now, precisely because of this. It's a strawberry floating car, not a disposable razor!

Also, we just found a replacement panel, same colour and everything, for €40 on eBay.

Can you get a car that doesn't make you look like a mobile vegan poet?

Strawberry-floatin' hell, what a day. My eldest nephew (12) was hit by a car whilst crossing the road. He's okay; bashed, cut and shaken but otherwise well. Getting that phone call and not knowing the full situation for a short time was a killer, though.

I've just got back home and, man, I'm just thankful that he's okay.

Thanks, guys. Felt just wrecked getting that phone call and then having to call my mum and dad. When something like that happens, it really makes you think and puts certain things into perspective. Thankfully, bar cuts and scrapes, all is well.
