I'm sat in a coffee shop trying to do my work and find myself browsing here, texting people and losing attention fast. I do wonder if it's time I started trying to focus more on what's around me, rather than what's in my phone?

Maybe i should give one a read.

I think this regularly, I'm often guilty of being a slave to my phone more than it is being a tool that enables me to do more. I've started using an app that lets me set up schedules for restricting the use of certain apps etc.

I'm hoping it will allow me to spend more time doing something other than staring at a pointless tool in my hand for hours of the day.

Cool! You should post a picture of your shiney new card. You go getter you.

Make sure to post both sides so we can really appreciate how happy it's making you

I don't think you need to read a book to tell you to mute your phone occasionally and not look at it

Yup, it's really dumb. To get a custom URL you need to hit 100 Subs. If you change your google account name it doesn't change your current Username on youtube. it's silly.

Is it the facial hair? Because that completely threw me at first. I imagined (his face! Perverts) pale and smooth.

After hours of videos I've adjusted now.

Genuine Question : This is a modded SC1 right? It's so crisp, yet detailed...and so functional.

It's not modded, it's the remaster they released end of last year. Also I had no idea anyone would actually watch any of the videos, so thanks I guess.

One of the shittest days in years today. Until last night I was expecting a nice weekend to ourselves after a not-particularly great week, mental health wise. Haven't been feeling too hot so just wanted a nice few days. Then, at 10.30pm, she tells me "Oh, we're helping my friend move in tomorrow. We need to be at hers at 9am I'm going to bed night.

Fine. We go, we help, it's tiring (pulling a three seat couch , fridge-freezer and oven up 5 floors of spiral staircase tiring) but we finish at around 4pm. We get home, I flop onto the bed. "Oh we need to return the composter I bought it's a 40 minutes tram ride and a walk ok let's go." I ask if we positively HAVE to go tonight but of course we do.

So we go. So we walk from the tram to the commercial park to the other side of the commerce park then along the highway then we dodge traffic to get to the other side then we can't get to the store as it's across another motorway so we walk to a bus stop no not that bus stop the one that's a 20 minutes walk away and oh no the bus is super late but we get it and then oh no she's doing the navigation but we miss the stop and the next one is 10 minutes down a highway so we get out and the next bus the other way is 20 minutes wait but we get to the shop and oh no there's the guy we need having a leisurely chat with some people and not helping us then he helps us the but disappears for 20 minutes and he's back and strawberry floating around so we miss the return bus and have to wait half an hour for the next one which is another 20 minutes late.

It took us 4 strawberry floating hours to return a compost bin. My back is in agony, my head hurts, my feet are bloody and I'm so strawberry floating tired.

I'm strawberry floating done with today.

So who wants to bet on how long it will be before Taff's Mrs. finds this thread and then he goes missing JK style (RIP in Pieces etc.).

I have this problem browsing the internet on my PC so when I'm trying to do work I'll unplug the ethernet cable whenever possible. Unfortunately a lot of the times I need the internet to do work so it's not always possible.

I've also found having a stop watch and measuring how much time I actually work helps as I can say to myself, ok I'll do another 10 minutes before I take a break or something like that.

I imagine it must be really hard to overcome that initial disheartening "0 views" that you'd get with having your own channel. I've followed one particular channel for a couple of years that hasn't seen an increase in viewers at all (never more than 500 per video) and I sometimes wonder if the person making them is constantly hoping that the next video will be the one to go viral, or if they'll one day just go "strawberry float it, I'm wasting my time here".

I guess it depends on what you're hoping to achieve when you set out posting videos. If it's for the love of the subject then it's probably much easier to carry on, but if you're only trying to make it big and become a professional youtuber (shudder) then it's probably quite a depressing enterprise.

i watch a fair few "reaction" videos. They're fun (No, I'm not paying for Patreon though! Stop asking) and there seems to be no ryhme or reason to who gets hits/subs and who doesn't.

Good thing for me is I'm gonna do my tournament for people anyway, I just throw the vods over from twitch to youtube so none of them get deleted. :toot:

Very true. And that's the obvious solution, but sometimes it's nice to read something a little more in depth to give you that bit more motivation ya know? I guess it depends on what sort of person you are and how self motivated you are. But I think I need to start timing myself more on how much time I use on the phone. Or start purposely leaving it in the car before going out for the day or going into work, things like that. You should realistically only need to check your phone 2 or 3 times a day to see if you need to do anything important, other than that it's all time wasting... I envy them people who I see with their phones and they have loads of unread WhatsApp and emails and they can just continue to ignore them.

It's one of the reasons I've stuck with my ancient 2G phone; I can do calls and texts but nothing else. I really dislike it when you see mates and they spend half the time looking at their phones and trying to show you the latest "hilarious" cat video. I reckon it leads to attention-span issues*.
