I seem to remember Rome being a lot smaller than you would expect, you can walk around loads of tourists sites in a surprisingly short period of time (unlike somewhere like London).

Also there was a really nice restaurant near Piazza Navona called La Focaccio. Not too pricey for central Rome.

Been here a few hours now and my god, the people are so rude  also not had this many warnings about pick pocketing since I was in Barcelona.

Anyway, I can literally see the Colosseum some 50 metres away from my room and I am looking forward to the coffee in the morning :datass:.

Really excited to head to Vatican City, even though I despise Catholicism.

Search sandy's posts in the travel thread, sure he posted some great tips for Rome in the past, think he might've lived there.

On the topic of meat I've tried to cut down a little and go more free range, feel really guilty eating shite meat now. Plus free range chicken is so much nicer to cook with.

Meanwhile, in Tesco...

"We're going a bit upmarket tonight...we're having Rustlers Gourmet Burgers"
"Ooooooh, wow. Fancy."
"You having chips with it?"
"Nah, we 'ave baked beans and smilies"
"What you having?"
"Cock-in-van and some potatoes"

The Nazis knew how to put themselves in the limelight and present themselves.

Leni Riefenstahl's movies and Albert Speer's buildings and the mass parades and the flags - just amazing. Really beautiful.

FFS, think my PC speakers are about to die on me, they keep fading in and out and make a weird high pitched whine every so often.

Only seems to happen occasionally at the moment but I fear the worst.

This is properly mental.

Good shout, have just done that. Agree with him that the Trevi Fountain during the daytime is a genuinely awful experience  we're going again later tonight after dinner at a jazz bar.

Did the Vatican today. Thought the Sistine Chapel was absolutely stunning — probably the highlight of the whole trip so far.

That probably means he's going to illegally invade your garden in a few years.

Either that or he’s leaving to stand on mountain tops looking wistfully at the stars.

He's going to invade your garden, then stand on your roof gazing wistfully at the stars.

Would love to go to Rome and pretend I'm John Wick.
