Teenager arrested in Saudi Arabia for dancing in the street to the Macarena

The 14-year-old, wearing shorts, a striped tee-shirt and headphones, is accused of "improper public behaviour" in Jeddah, a statement said.

It is not clear what his nationality is or if he has been formally charged.

In the clip, which has been shared thousands of times, the boy can be seen dancing back and forth amid heavy traffic in the background.

The clip, featuring the popular 1990s song by Los Del Rio, was believed to have been first posted in July 2016.

Some on social media have hailed him a hero - while others have condemned him as "immoral".

He's not dancing in the street he's dancing in the middle of the road causing huge traffic problems. Also the song is bad and he looks very camp.

Frankly death would be too lenient for this degenerate.

If he got arrested just for dancing it would be bad, however, he was being a banana split and blocking a road.

Seriously though, the traffic must have been on a red light. There's no way the drivers in all the lanes would hold back because of that pillock.

Hopefully he gets off with a light punishment. One foot chopped off, that kinda thing.

I think this kid's a bit of a hero. Dancing to the Macarena in a camp fashion in a homophobic country. It's a shame it's the last thing he'll ever do.
