WHAT!? Where the strawberry float was this lunatic when we were all talking about a coroporation who feels they can shaft us with prices and then we'll all fall in line? Where the hell was he when we complained about localisation issues and game delays? Where was he when Sony showed us those CGI vids? Jesus Christ these PS3 fanboys are idiots. Obviously they were face down in Kutaragi's or Howard's lap.

Tekken 6 out Autumn 2009

Atari, who will publish Tekken 6 on PS3 and 360 next year, has narrowed down the release of the anticipated title to autumn 2009.

We've seen the arcade version in action and have to say that it looks pretty bloody good - it's just good old Tekken with the flashiest visuals of the series so far, by the looks of it.

Unsurprisingly, Namco promised at the Atari event today that Tekken 6 will be the "biggest and best in the series".

Press Release.

The Next Feverishly Anticipated Instalment in the Pre-eminent Fighting Franchise Comes to Europe in Autumn 2009 for Xbox 360® and PLAYSTATION®3

LONDON, UK – 2 December 2008 – NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe gets working on its combos in preparation for the next instalment in the ultimate fighting franchise TEKKEN 6, scheduled for release in Europe through its distribution partnership with Infogrames Entertainment in autumn 2009 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

Developed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc., TEKKEN 6 brings the blockbuster fighting series onto multiple platforms for the first time in the history of the TEKKEN franchise. TEKKEN sets the standard for fighting games with its stunning realism and uncompromising quality, and TEKKEN 6 promises to propel the series to greater heights with major gameplay enhancements and the largest character roster ever seen in the TEKKEN series.

Rendered in vivid high definition detail, TEKKEN 6 heralds the dawn of a new era as a new King of the Iron Fist Tournament opens for business, with intense gameplay modes, new features and environments that guarantee blistering fight action, lightning-paced brawls and bone-crunching punch-ups.

TEKKEN 6 sees the return of many familiar faces while also introducing a host of new characters resulting in the largest line-up the series has ever seen. Each fighter is equipped with their own deadly techniques, moves and attack combinations to make TEKKEN 6 the most challenging King of the Iron Fist Tournament yet. A character customization feature will further intensify the fighting action and multiplayer gameplay modes let players take their fighters online to compete for world domination.

Boasting an illustrious 14 year legacy, TEKKEN is among the most popular and well-known gaming brands in the world with the entire franchise selling more than 33 million units to date. TEKKEN 6 is a must-have for any fan of console arcade fighting.

Atari? That's an odd one. Do Namco publish any games in Europe themselves?

I forgot about this - it's a buy alright, in what's likely to be my only beat'em up of this generation.

Tekken 6 dev "considering" console-specific characters

Tekken 6 developer Namco is "considering" platform-specific characters for its next beat-em-up instalment, similar to the Star Wars setup used by Soul Calibur IV, the developer has told CVG.

Speaking in an interview in London, game director Katsuhiro Harada said that although development focus is yet to shift from the Arcade version, Namco is already pondering downloadable content for consoles.

"We're still working on the Arcade version, so there are no concrete plans [for the console versions] at the moment," Harada said.

When quizzed on the chances of exclusive PS3 and Xbox 360 characters, the Tekken man said it could be quite difficult.

"Of course we would like to have something - as far as downloadable content goes - specific to platform. However on the other hand it is quite difficult to get Microsoft and Sony to sign off on having differences between the platforms," he said.

"It is something we're considering, but it is pretty difficult."

Tekken 6 has just been dated for Autumn 2009.

They haven't done so for this generation, at least. The likes of Ace Combat 6, Beautiful Katamari and Eternal Sonata have all been published by Atari. I don't know why Namco don't publish themselves, though.

They don't have a European arm (apart from something to do with Arcades), and they don't seem even remotely interested in setting one up either. They're still partying like it's 1994. Soul Calibur 2 was published by Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, and Sony picked up most of their PS2 exclusive stuff over here. It's ridiculous behaviour from such a "big" company.

That is perhaps the single greatest screenshot in the world.

It's ok but it the fourth fighting series these days. Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur are all better than Tekken. If you want to get into it try Tekken 5 on the store which is cheap and is pretty good.

Agreed - Soul Caliburs 3 and 4 have been very dissappointing. Tekken gets a rough ride and is definitely third on that list.

Oh, I should also add that T6 looks like a PS2 game. Not impressed with the dumb weapons and extras either. :|
