After a seven year wait since the last entry in to the series, Tekken 8 has been officially announced. Launch trailer below:

I'm interested to see who peoples favourite Tekken characters are. My go-to character is Lili / Sebastian. They work well with my fighting style, a nice range of kicks and high mobility. Shout out goes to Eddie for similar reasons!

Haven't played a Tekken game since the PSP one but my go to characters were

Yoshimitsu - a little tricky to use consistently but that 10 hit combo is lethal
Asuka - basically a great combination of Juns Kazama style moves and Jins Mishima moves
Bryan - no nonsense sheer brute force here, that gut punch to one handed powerrslam (that evil laugh)

Less used were King, Nina and Lei.

Yoshimitsu is one of my second tier fighters. The main downside was occasionally stabbing myself with my own sword. :slol:

My favourite Tekken was Tekken Tag Tournament 2. I would love a Tag mode to be included in this game, though I expect that's wishful thinking. A friend and I once won over 50 battles in a row on online match making on TTT2. I think that's probably one of my best, if not the single best 'achievement' in gaming!

I was very happy when realising that my PS3 fightstick works with Tekken 7 on the PS5 and I'd be chuffed if that continues with Tekken 8.

I used to do the 'Manji Blood Petals' move (Yosh impales himself then spins around slashing his opponent repeatedly) to wind my brother up, he hated that I could still win using such a ridiculous move.

My favourite tactic is to get the opposition on the floor and then keep them there. It's a bit scumbag, but it works, especially with characters like Lili and Eddy who have strong low kicks. In fact, I'll often finish a battle with a single punch. Having kicked my way through 90% of their health bar, very few people expect the fists to come out!

Well that Trailer just increased the confirmed player roster somewhat!

Player list updated after latest trailer:

Kazuya, Jin Kazama, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson, Jack-8, Jun Kazama.

Marshall Law is the closest of this bunch to my go to characters, so I may have a bit of practice with him on Tekken 7.

Jun Kazama hasn't featured in a mainline Tekken since Tekken 2, though was in TTT2. Good to see them bringing an old favourite back, though I hope it doesn't come at the cost of Lili. :shifty:

Will be interesting to see how Jun is in this...isn't she canonically dead? I thought she was one of the characters that was attacked/killed by Ogre between Tekken 2 and 3. TTT2 wasn't part of the plot, and I believe Jun in that game was just Unknown in disguise iirc. Still, this is just a game so there are any number of weird ways that she could be brought back I suppose.

I've played the series since Tekken 2 and my favourites have consistently been Kazuya and Nina.

I missed out on 7 completely as I haven't been as into gaming as I once used to be so never had the time to keep up with everything. Does anybody know how big the download size is for the ultimate edition that contains all the DLC? I have a very average internet connection and a PS4 with a full HDD so I'm fairly apprehensive about even attempting to buy it!

I hate Nina. My friend who plays Tekken is obscene with her. Whilst watching that video, I could practically feel the punches...

Haven’t characters been dropped in volcanos, strapped to rockets and launched to space and still made it to the next game? I don’t think Jun coming back is that implausible given the ludicrous narrative so far.

GOAT characters are Bryan and Howorang. Ultimate tag team combination.

Bryan, Asuka and Yoshimitsu were my characters of choice in the last Tekken game I played (the PSP one).

Yeah, I know. It's just that certain characters were bumped off by Ogre between 2 and 3, hence why they created descendents like Julia Chang to continue the fighting style (and Jin to carry some of Jun's moves/style). Can't really count characters with the Devil Gene surviving whacky "deaths" either really...

But, yeah, makes no difference really! Just curious as to what they will do. I've always been a nerd for the fighting game plotlines in multiple series.

I really hope Julia or "Jaycee" is in the launch game.

I don't really like playing any other characters apart from Leo or Leon (can't remember their name) and I can't imagine them getting in.
