Good stuff, Tom. Patapon's way too high, though. Kudos for putting Siren in there. :)

*crosses fingers for Fable II, though I think I know what's going to be number 1*

Not a fan? The pair of us loved Patapon. Mind you, we got Loco Roco 2 a little late and having been playing it on the train I'm starting to think the two should perhaps switcharoo. Amazing scenes. I did so enjoy Patapon though.

I'd actually have SIREN higher in a purely personal list (amongst others actually) but there had to be some degree of objectivity and it's fairly old-school, niche horror, not very, ahem, Telegraph.

What do you think will be number one?

Best. List. Ever.

Good stuff, Tom. A really good write-up from your fellow Telegraph scribe about Fallout 3, though. The more I read appraisals like that, the more I want to give it another chance. Like the Consolevania review really. I just wish I'd enjoyed it more the first time around.

Yeah, he was adamant that Fallout 3 was his GOTY, so I had to use some low-blow tactics to win. Er, not that it was a competition or anything. Ahem.

Having started Fallout recently, I haven't exactly been blown away. So it's not like I feel guilty.

What did you think was going to be number one anyway?

Fallout.

It's a strange game in that I found several elements of the game to be annoying, but was compelled to play on nevertheless. But I didn't get that almost constant sense of enjoyment that I had from Fable II. It probably suffered from me playing it immediately afterwards, actually.

What is the absent game? I can't see any game that I think really should be there.

Maybe Too Human, PGR4 or Infinite Undiscovery, but then I don't have a PS3 and have barely played anything else than the 360 the whole year.

I'm not getting on with it at all. A couple of things have really impacted my enjoyment so far. The world is brilliantly realised but other than that, I've actually found it a little tedious and irritating. I want to plow on, I imagine the game opens up massively once you level up and access new quests. Not floating my boat at the moment though.

Bigrinch, it's none of those, but some people have been suggesting it's their GOTY, or at least top 5. Wasn't PGR4 last year? (I hope so, or that's a boo-boo on our part)

There's one other game missing that neither of us have played that I would have liked to- Valkyrie Chronicles. Can't win 'em all though.

I can't think of any.

I disagree with some of the games, but I found it to be a good list all in all.

Thanks! :)

We had quite a lot of hits and only a handful of "LIST IZ RETARDED" posts. Most of which have actually vanished now (genuine tech glitch, any nice comments have disappeared too).

Banjo-Kazooie: N&B is the missing game by the way. Really didn't like it, at all.

Anyway, I've written a small review on Unsolved Crimes for the DS. Good it is!

Good List Tom, probably would have been worthy of a post in GGC.

Smash Brothers is way too low though.

Hehe, I knew you'd have something to say about that Herb. ;)

Thanks though. I thought about putting it up in GGC, but never feel entirely comfortable pimping this stuff in there. If any of you guys do think it's worthy, then please do. :)

And Tom, PGR4 was indeed last year. Enjoying a bit of a revival at the moment, as a matter of fact, as it seems to be being bundled in some shops. Plus, there's a real effort going on rllmuk to resurrect some racing nights over the festive period.

Rightly so, PGR is easily in my top 5 360 games and the best racer I've played this gen.

Our most wanted games for 2008 (if they appear, natch)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandte ... d-Wii.html

These choices are not so much about what we think will be the best games, but the games we're dying to try and find how they turn out.

What the hell?

Before you get the lawyers out, we wrote this piece before Christmas. Honest. ;)

I wrote the MadWorld piece on Christmas Eve and posted it on Christmas Day. Very odd indeed. I guess it's the most obvious description for the game, really. Still, spooky.
