This is getting really mixed reviews, so I'm not really sure what to think.

Where has this view come from? The Walking Dead is absolutely brilliant.

The games they made prior to the walking dead were good, but then they started doing film/tv tie ins and their studio jumped the shark too.

Tales from the borderlands is great - as good as TWD Season 1.

Tales from the Borderland was kind of mixed for me; yes, it was pretty funny and had good direction but it had barely any real interaction. Mostly it was just going from one QTE to another. Telltale tend to fall flat on puzzles and the more interactive elements of their games compared to other adventure titles, I find.

Seemingly inevitably for an Episode 2 of Telltale - a bit shonky.

I had voices distorted (as if over comms) when right by me and some silliness about "I'll be downstairs if you want to talk" then nothing to talk about and straight to the "See you later" default exit line.

Story spins it's wheels a bit too (although it would feel that after the opening episode) although there's some nice character beats.

Suffers a little bit from bad decisions.

e.g. I agree to do X with Rocket over Y.
New information/situation changes.the entire situation in next scene.
Want to do Z now based info now. - Rocket is all betrayed "You promised we'd do X" and hurt, there's no options to try and explain mitigate situation has fundamentally changed.

Still enjoyed it though

Went with Rocket to Halfworld over tracking Nebula wherever she was.
Annoyed that when it turned out Nebula was attack Nova Corps right then Rocket was a dick when I wanted to change plans.
Sent Drax to Gamora
Still wait to Halfworld - horrible scenes
Didn't honor Lyla's last wish. SHE WAS GOING TO SEE OUTSIDE DAMN IT ;'(
Was nice to Rocket, and reburied Lyla.
Tried to talk down Nova Corps.
Tried to talk down Nebula.
Set Gamora out of room and offered arm trade with Nebula.
Told Rocket he needed to move on from Lyla and let go.
Left Gamora to guard Nebula - they need to talk. (Drax was miffed)
Explained to Drax I wanted him by my side (not the actual explanation but close enough)
Let Nebula out to help the fight

Oh my, episode 3 is ruddy excellent.

However, all of the choices (bar one) seemed pretty skewed in favour of a particular option, which kind of makes me feel like the big choices were slightly redundant. My favourite episode so far though, it mostly focused on interaction between the guardians themselves and it was really well paced with good humour and dialogue.

Well that's my happy fun adventure thoroughly ruined!

A slow episode with a focus on characters rather than epic space adventure, although there's a bit toward the end more EPIX!

Not sure how they're gonna wrap it all up in one episode!

Mum's basically dead and nearly killed us both in an accident. This is the end for her (Bummer #1). Said we should finish out trip though. (She's gonna die anyway...)
Trusted Worm, Called it Blue, Kept it Throughou
Followed Gamora, Rocket was being a jerk. Supported her.
Karima - was kind, firm and supportive. Didn't push or pull her back - let it time out and she did it herself. Held on a few minutes
Nebula - didn't plug in. Talked about death, life, love, regrets and memory. The she died (Bummer #2)
Threw out lots of stuff, but not the Rocket from Yondu, the picture of mom and the ray gun from earth. Gave Mantis the glove, let her keep it rather than throw out.
Sacrificed Tape deck (assuming can be rebuilt, but lives more important than music)
Went out the front
Helped Drax Sacrifice Himeself. Didn't see another plan. (Bummer #3)

Gamora blames me/hates me for not doing enough to save Drax.
Rocket stood up for me.
Mantis hates the arguements. Left.
Gamora left.
Groot felt he had to go with Mantis, hugged him.

Rocket, Quill and Blue end with a drink

The outcome at the end felt a little binary - and the work I'd done with Gamora before felt like it was overridden by a single binary action. Standard Telltale problem though.

Huh. That really ended with a wimper.

Re-used assets/music. Stakes feel virtually non-existent.

Fallout from last episode (which already felt like arbitrary and unaffected by my choices) is undone quickly here by very similar choices to previously that didn't affect things.

Probably the worst Telltale "finale", and might be my least favorite of the recent game series. It wasn't a build up to a climatic ending - it was a forced conflict I'd spent 4 episodes trying to avoid/mitigate, that was then resolved become "canon/lore" requires it.

The ending seeing who you sided with most, and how it affected their characteristics was nice

Answers went with pride/proud/being better rathe than love

Went for Drax first - Gamora was ok,. but pissed. Drax was left to die.

Talked to Drax about family and being proud.

Talked to Gamora about forgiving herself and friendship

Rocket hacked, Groot Guarded, Drax distracted and Gamora stole.

Kicked Hala's arse

Pretended for Hala

Turned down Mantis' offer to revist Mum

Toasted to the Guardians.

Went to help Nova Corp

Stinger sets up a sequel, but with Telltales recent news not sure we'll see it. If we do, I won't be as excited for it.
