Despite both getting bad reviews?

Oh how silly of me. I forgot that, as gamers, we aren't allowed to buy a game that scores less than a 9 from at least 1 magazine or site.

I actually really enjoy the demo for Facebreaker and the first Mercs was great so I'm sure I'll like the sequel. But yes, you're right. I shouldn't let my personal tastes get in the way of review scores.

They've both got around 5s from the places that have reviewed them, this is not a case of not buying anything other than the best of the best.

Its perfectly possible for a demo to not show the flaws of a full game and by all accounts Mercs 2 is worse than the original.

Its ok to stand up for personal opinion, but to willfully ignore all signs pointing to games being crap is just plain stupid.

How on earth do you justify your purchases of The Outfit and Viking?

The reviews for Mercs 2 are no worse than the reviews for Viking & yet many people still really liked it.

Someone even went as far as to call it his 'Game of the Generation'.

I got Viking for £9.99 from Comet, that's about what it's worth.

Reviews can be just plain wrong, Viking is an example.

Could Mercs 2 be another example? Possibly...but from what I've seen of the game I seriously doubt it.

Its not that I dislike the genre, or this type of game...it just looks like complete gooseberry fool.

I'm sure plenty people thought the same about Viking until they actually bought it & played it for themselves.

And even more did after they played it...yes?

Viking was always a pretty interesting prospect for me something a bit new and different (yes it was).

Mercs 2 on the other hand started off that way, but for the last year or so its gone down hill fast. The stuff that came out of E3 2008 was absolutely terrible and since then its basically fallen off the map.

I suppose people defended Just Cause...so anything is possible, but I wouldn't expect many on here to come in posting how brilliant the game is.

I'll probably pick up Final Fantasy IV.

Even though I can probably import it for cheaper. Even though it will probably be £15 in a few months. Even though it will probably just sit on my shelf for the foreseeable future.

Depending on price, I'll be picking up Spore and Spore Creatures this week.

http://garybaileywriting.wordpress.com/ - A place to read a little flash fiction.
http://theminigamereview.blogspot.com/ - My own personal review space.
http://silentilshortstories.blogspot.com/ - A showcase of short stories I have written.

Bangai-O Spirits!...which, err, I was supposed to get last week but was worried about running out of funds. I have enough now however!

And I'll definitely get FFIV at some point.
