I'm in that London for a gig in Hyde park this weekend and will be mostly staying around that general area. Anyone fancy a drink? Nothing heavy, just a beer or two somewhere would be good.

Failing That, pub recommendations are most welcome.

We were in town for a BST hyde park gig on the sunday to see Tom Petty and the heartbreakers. Which was nice. We had 3 days to look around which of course flew by.

Here are some photos from the adventure:

Nice pub outside our hotel at Hyde Park, which thankfully we only found on our second night or our hangovers would have been a lot worse:

Turns out Hyde park is a lot bigger than I expected and really rather pretty. Lots of bees sleeping on the floor for some reason under the trees.
Image

Covent garden was quite nice. Really busy though so we didnt stop.
Image

Lego shop had a cool wall thing. Was so crowded I didnt bother trying to get any other photos. They had the Saturn 5 set and I was so tempted.

Piccadilly Circus before pride arrived

Went to a greek restaurant on the friday night, spent a fortune but it was well worth it. Nice beer
Image

Tower bridge. I usually love open top bus tours but this one took 4 odd hours to cover a very short distance so we didnt make use of our 2 day pass to go back, which was a shame.

A bank. I think this one is the cause of all life's problems.

That thing that was a crocodile on the start of have i got news for you in the 90s

A fairground ride that's got out of hand

That thing from top gear

A massive temporary erection put up just for pride

The Gig. It was Tom Petty with Stevie Nicks supporting  The lumineers were on before them though :dread: :dread: :dread: Like musical aids they were, strawberry floating awful cider advert grade bland gooseberry fool. Sounded like they'd got hold of and ripped off a lost David Gray b-sides album.

We bought nice tickets so we didn't have to mix it with the povvos :toot:

The Summer garden, with a big nice trump wall, presumably to keep out all the scary foreigns that I hear they have around there:
Image

The diamond circle viewing area, which was strawberry floating brilliant. You could be about 20 people deep from the stage with loads of room around you, wander in and out for a piss in 5 ins:
Image

Then look behind you to see this :dread: :dread: :dread:  Poor bastards.

Tom petty and Stevie nicks. I think I got something stuck in my eye a few times when she performed fleetwood mac songs :shifty:

Be prepared to pay £5.50 for 330ml bottles at BST Hyde Park.

I was there last week and luckily couldn't drink. Saved a fortune.

I'm in London on Friday and could probably meet up for a quick drink if you're in the right part of London, but I'm too scared to meet you on your own Ad. For all I know you could be some crazy madman. :dread:

Well I've met Banjo before he's still around.

He did leave the country shortly afterwards though.

Don't do it Ad. Staydead will end up missing his bus, then his train and he will end up having to live with you.

I will keep you posted. It starts pretty early so it's likely I'll wake up and head straight to Hyde Park and get on it. I also have a spare ticket I need to get shot of beforehand so if I have to meet someone else it could get complicated.

Are you staying near Hyde Park?

I was there for Greenday 8-)

It was a very odd setting for the day's punk lineup.

We're staying right next to the park. I haven't run this passed the Mrs yet so it could turn our we don't have time or are doing the same as you and just getting on with it.

Cool! Yeh the time will go quick and I want to see all of the bands if I can on the Saturday.

Answering your original question about pub recommendations, I don't really know of any drinking establishments in particular in that area but the parks around there are nice so you could grab some cold ones and drink them on a park bench  hopefully its picnic weather
