It saddens me that I could never get it looking quite that good.

Took me ages looking for this bloody thread and then like the gobshite I am realised I can just search for it :fp:

Any, back to PC gaming but properly this time and not on a laptop..

Wanted to try out ROTTR and it looks so much better than the Xbone version I'd played and 60fps too, even better!

And while your answering that one Brer a quick downsampling question.. When downsampling do you turn off in game AA or leave them on?

It was like 800 euro but I built it in late 2014, so parts would probably be cheaper now. I've got an i7 4770 and a GTX 970. Even that is slightly out of date now thanks to the 1070/80.

Was expecting it to be a lot more :o . How does the game actually run, looking like that?

Garly, it depends on the game and how high youre downsampling from. If you're downsampling from a fairly high res you probably won't need in game AA. Some games just have super shitty aliasing tho and you might need both DS and in game AA.

Just tried it with Rise of the Tomb Raider at 2560x1440 and it worked, fps dropped by about 10 and that's with SMAA on. Switching to FXAA didn't make a difference fps wise. At least I can now downsample :slol:

SMAA & FXAA have pretty much zero performance impact tho so you could use SMAA & downsampling for best quality. FXAA just blurs the screen too much. But ROTTR has AWFUL aliasing. Its absolutely horrible looking at times. I could never get rid of it unless I was downsampling from 4K and that's just too much of a performance hit

Samuel those shots of Skyrim were like maybe 10 fps  At 1080p tho I can still play it with all those mods and get 45-50 fps

Looks fine to me, did switch to SSAA I think and everything looked blurred and weird. The Witcher 3 looks gorgeous at that downsampled res and since I'm used to the console 30fps version I stuck Nvidia hairworks on high with 8xAA for hairworks and just locked it to 30fps and was surprised it stayed at it with hairworks on. Where the hell does Nvidia's screenshot function store them? I can go and see pics in the gallery but can I shite locate them anywhere.
