More from Doom 3, SikkMod with Wulfens's & Monoeads' high-res texture sets...

Also got the Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil SikkMod working beautifully, too, again with high-res texture packs. IdTech4

Thanks to Brer for pointing me in the direction of these stunning mods and texture packs.

These mods transform the game into something outstanding, imo. Amazing that a game engine at least eight years old can be made to look so contemporary. I want to revive the long-lost 'Levels of Doom3' website. It was just a pictorial record of every level in Doom3 - just shots of the interiors (no enemies, no HUD, no gun, etc) - but without the beauty of these mods to enhance the screenhots. Maybe I could call it 'The Doom3 Museum' and include the expansion, RoE, too - which also has some beautiful interior maps. Hmmm. Been wondering what project to brush up my Dreamweaver skills with...

I have the sikkmod but mine looks nothing like that. :(

Are you sure you have it installed properly? If you boot up d3 you can go into mods option and launch Sikkmod, and then you'll see a Sikkmod options section. Also I've got wulfens and monoxeads textures there which makes it look way better too

Yeah, that's what I have. Where can I get the textures from, that'll probably be what I'm missing? :D

Still looks great  as much as I gooseberry fool myself during Doom 3 and RoE I just love the look of the Mars facility. The blurring in the distance is perhaps a bit intense though? It's almost replicating short-sighted vision.

It can be changed, but I agree I had it set quite high. It's actually an option in the mod to choose a 'bokeh' filter for the depth-of-field (there are about five or six other filter choices) and it is fully adjustable, the effect can be lessened to the point of being barely perceptible. I just thought the higher setting makes for nice 'photos' - one could almost embark on a photographic journey through the two games, showing the game world in quite a stylized, 'arty' look. BTW, there's also a cel-shaded option in the mod which I haven't played with yet. The whole mod is incredible, once you start digging into the huge number of menu options.

I'm with you about the look of the Mars Facility - it's the single most thing I adore Doom3 and it's expansion for. I consider them both examples of some of the best-looking level design ever created.

Turn your antialiasing on, jeez.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I guess I did, even I did have to wait the best part of eight years for it. God bless talented modders everywhere. 8-)

Hope the new Metro game is as good as Metro 2033 was.

May as well post my PC screenshots of Dead Rising 2 Off The Record :)

DR2 Off The Record is so much better game overall, because of checkpoints. It made sections with gas zombies less annoying because if you die, at least you can restore that area you've entered instead of reloading save. Much more newcomer-friendly, although I still prefer Chuck Greene to Frank.

Got it running properly. This is just the second level:

Absolutely mental.

You can get it for £2.98 delivered from Base.com. It's a little bit rough around the edges but at that price you'd be mad not to.

Biggest complaint is that it only saves progress properly at the end of each level (and doesn't tell you that) so if you quit you have to start the level again and each level is about 45 minutes to an hour long. Dunno who's bright idea that was, but then these are the crazies who made D. Souls.

Those cars models look nice but I'm sure there's room for improvement in the lighting and reflections on them.

Perhaps not the most important thing in a proper racing sim game.

It certainly doesn't compare to Gran Turismo 5, the game with the best lighting effects ever.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:
