X3 Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude are the two to go for (Prelude won't run without TC as it's an expansion to that title). I was gobsmacked by the visuals. It truly looks stunning in action as I hope my screens go some way to showing. It's also waaaaaaaaay deep, in an Eve kind of way, so there is tons of depth to the pretty graphics. I find the learning curve more like jumping off a cliff.

Reading through the forums over at Egosoft I'm constantly amazed at just how deep some players can get and just how little (a flimsy fragment) of the game I have actually seen, despite clocking up over 20 hours of play time. You can play the sim either as a straight-forward space combat sim (impressive), as an all-out business/empire building sim or as a sandbox mixture of both. I know people laugh at my game choices, but fans of damn good-looking space sims with a ton of play options need look no further.

Have one of my random screens:

I bought the X Superbox a while ago that came with X3, but whilst it should probably be one of my favourites of all time, I just found it too hard to get into. I couldn't find any kind of in-game tutorial to get me started and the game just seemed to have way too steep a learning curve for me to bother with at the time. One of these days I might pop it in and give X3 another try when I have more free time to devote to it.

I think terran conflict has a very basic tutorial, so maybe start off with that?

Hm, might take another look.

I remember loading up the first one and having no idea what to do. The only thing I could think to do was go back and forth between the same two space stations buying and selling the same thing again and again to try and make back the credits that the aliens had just loaned me.

Maybe I just wasn't giving the games the chance I needed to :shifty:

Brer imagine this: A Predator game on the Crysis engine, in the style of Crysis 1. Fully licensed characters, multiple approach gameplay, AI that tries to trick you the same way the humans tried in the film.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

It's something I tried (selling Ore), but the problem with that approach is that you quickly discover that not only do you run out of buyers, but the game's AI is busy trading away in the background and often possible buyers have been reached by AI traders before you get a chance. It's a frustration. It means having to open up new sectors (by mapping them all out) and so increasing travel between supply and demand, etc...it's a big, big game, but I admit it's very tricky for anyone new to get into easily on the trading side. The dogfighting side appears to be much more straight-forward.

Great shots, Im guessing the image resizing helps a bit too. Still looks purdy, almost as good as it was advertised.

No I agree with downscaling for pretty shots, thats exactly the reason why almost all of my Skyrim shots were smaller. Also, Im fairly certain that Flikr applies a magic filter which makes all pictures 97% better.

I didn't think Mirrors Edge was that great, but it did hold exceptional promise and I've always been disapointed by the lack of a sequel, spiritual or otherwise.
