I am in Anna Soubury's seat. It has been marginal in the past, but won't be this year. Although she is a prominent remainer I could not vote for the Tories. I will register my utterly pointless protest remain vote for Timmy Fallon's Yellow Army this time.

Me too. I wonder if we'll see Soubry shifted over to Rushcliffe given Ken Clarke is retiring. She lives out that way and it's a safe Tory seat, only problem is I don't think she's high on May's christmas card list anymore.

I take it that whoever wins (the tories obviously) that they get another 5 year term again? so it just resets the clock?

This is going to be the most disappointing general election i've witnessed, so predictable. A potential opportunity for a Labour/Lib Dem coalition if the tories just fail to but i can't see them currently agreeing on anything to actually form a coalition.

On the flip side a bad Labour loss could be the end of Corbyn.

Sure, it will marginally increase Tory power until 2022 -- but they were always going to win the next election whenever it were held, so I thought made sense for them to string this Parliament out. Do I have it wrong?

I agree with this logic. It seems shortsighted to me. Certainly before boundary reforms.

The only way it makes sense is if you assume Labour will get someone equally incompetent in to replace Corbyn because their voting system thanks to Ed Miliband allows the nutty people to win.

Or May is fearing Tories will be blamed for a messy Brexit.

Karl wrote:
Drumstick wrote:GD, I meant to ask this before but what is this boundary thing you've previously mentioned?

The next Tory government is going to try its hand at gerrymandering, making it even more difficult for a Labour government to form. Grumpy David is very excited about this.

 Classic KP.

It's due to the population shifts that naturally happen over time. Some MPs have very low populations within the boundaries whilst others have huge populations. The current system favours Labour. They need a smaller share of the vote to win a majority in Parliament.

The change is to try and equalise it so every MP represents approximately 60,000 people.

It hasn't been updated in ages and was blocked by Lib Dems in previous Parliament because they wanted to make it more likely that the Tories would be forced into coalition again.

The current system favours Labour?! Good lord no it doesn't.

Just checked the 2015 results of the constituency I moved into last year.

59.4% Conservative with UKIP coming in second with 15.2%.

Great. :|

Easiest place.

If the Lib Dems and Labour had any sense and conviction they would agree to not run against each other in key seats.

Voting Lib Dem.

I'm probably gonna vote Lib Dem, they're the only real opposition in my constituency and even without reference to party politics our current Conservative MP has been gooseberry fool.

I wonder if there will be any tv debates, i can't imagine Corbyn wanting to take part in any.

This is a major opportunity for Lib Dems though to pick up the anti brexit vote. They should just go all out and state that if they get in they will reverse article 50 (jury is still out on whether this is possible). But why not, things can't really get any worse for the Lib Dems.

I currently don't have a clue who i will vote for though, as it stands i don't want to vote for anyone.

I don't see where Labour or UKIP fit in this election. If you want Brexit to be delivered upon in as clear and concise manner as is currently being put on the table, you vote Conservative. If you are opposed to Brexit, or a hard version of it, you vote Liberal Democrat.

Well, this is surprising and unexpected.

I am annoyed that I have absolutely no say in this. But then, devolved government. Who gives a gooseberry fool.

Cheers

47% Conservatives, 33.6% Labour, 14.4% UKIP :dread: ..... 2.8% Lib Dem :fp:

I mean I'd like to vote Lib Dem because they seem the least crazy, but that would genuinely just be a wasted vote.

Yeah that's how i see it. Although there are millions of hardcore voters who always vote tory and labour every time and never change regardless of the situation at the time.

I'm worried we'll see a big UKIP surge.

I'm not so sure. They're a one policy party and their one policy has been essentially fulfilled.

It will probably happen despite how moronic it is. They are a party without purpose.
