I don't get it - it's an opportunity for him to speak to the country, getting his message across to millions of people in his own words. Instead, many people will only see the occasional quote from him and probably mostly negative press headlines. Pathetic.

Yeah he really should be taking this chance to get the message out. Even if there is a possibility of losing votes to Lib Dems/SNP it's got to be a risk worth taking.
Presumably there will still at least be some individual televised grillings for each of the candidate's but an actual debate with the Tories too cowardly to show up could have had a real impact.

And yet, he got at May last week in the PMQ's for doing this. I don't strawberry floating believe it. He cannot be this incompetent.

Well, that's Corbyn's last ever PMQs done. I wonder if they gave him a goodbye present.

I can see a scenario where Corbyn goes (somehow) only for the membership to revote him back in again.

The Cult of Comrade Corbyn and his manhole covers will never die.

I'd believe that except it's just too obvious, a Tory plant would be far more competent at sabotage.

He's useless and is going to hand May a massive majority. :fp:

So Corbyn moans about how the press portray him and this refuses to use the debates as a platform to reach millions of viewers ?

Just because May has refused to debate, they shouldn't have a choice to debate it should be mandatory.

There are a lot of really cruddy MPs in safe seats all over the place.

To be fair the guy might actually be a relatively decent MP at a local level. It's just that he lacks the charisma and strategy to really cut it at a national level.

That said he basically probably given a safe seat to keep the unions on side. They were getting really annoyed with the labour party a while ago and even threatened to cut spending.

Wouldn't mind having Corbyn as my MP, actually. He seems like he might actually listen to my concerns as a constituent and take them seriously, which is kind of rare amongst most MPs. Doesn't mean he's cut out for this current role though.

Zac Goldsmith is running in the same seat he lost 5 months ago, this time for the Conservatives again. Leave supporting MPs are occasionally in favour of second referendums it seems.

At this point in time - the TV debates really should be mandatory. All this ducking debates from all parties to suit them is ridiculous.

Thinking about that £350m a week instead of spending it on the NHS why don't we spend it on things to get people in shape so they don't need the NHS.
£350m a week could pay for millions of people to join gyms or other sporty activities and also help people stop smoking. We'd also have some left to help with older people to take classes in all sorts of things so they get out and meet people and this will help with mental health.

The NHS does spend money on prevention and general health/wellbeing campaigns. I agree that more could be done.
