It seems like the start of a regime.

Control people's access to the world and what news and information they can and can't see.

It feels more and more may is trying to kick off some sort of dictatorship, kick the UK to brexit to cause a crash, blame the EU for it, take emergency powers, take over fully.

Think of the children!

I don't understand this quote it's already really easy to bully kids online!

She's a very interventionist PM, and another politician who doesn't appear to understand how the internet works.

Google, Facebook and Twitter etc. are partly to blame for this of course. They've let abuse run rampent on their platforms. The BBC reporting child abuse to Facebook and FB then reporting the BBC to the police was peak bollocks.

The EU, in particular Germany, aren't happy with these companies either.

They already have control over most of the newspapers and TV, the internet is the next logical step.

Phase 1 is already in place with the Snooper's charter which gave the Tories the logs of everyone's browsing habits.
Phase 2 lets them (attempt to) tweak/remove the content as they wish.

There is no Phase 3 as by that point they can in theory force their own narrative on the majority of the population using the data they have to ensure it's most effective.

Evidence for this?

I think it happens in some areas of America, to be fair. I can't remember the exact system they have, but I recall the barrier to getting ID is high enough that poor minorities (predominantly left-leaning) stop bothering, whereas the rich white people (predominantly right-leaning) don't see going through that process as a big deal. So ultimately one demographic gets to vote and the other doesn't.

Having to go to a building which is only open five days a year is the most egregious example.

Hearing people talk politics for the first time at work today was quite disheartening. Nobody seemed to have actually read the manifestos they've just seen the headlines on the Daily Mail. I heard the word '1970s' several times, someone mentioned giving money to poor people as if was a bad thing, there was a conversation about the recent ransomware attack and that it would have been worse under Labour (even though they manage the Welsh NHS and weren't affected by the attack), and a manager went on a huge rant about how evil Labour are for wanting to cap bosses pay if they want public contracts, as if that is the most serious issue we face as a country. No one in the office would be affected by it but for some reason everyone seemed to agree with him.

I'm in Surrey so Tories are guaranteed to win here anyway, but if the number of illogical or misinformed arguments I heard today is any indication then the country is going to let the Tories do as they have promised.

The best case scenario here is that the Conservatives aren't that ignorant and are just publishing this crap because they think their older voter base will buy it; although from experience I think it is very likely that they are as clueless as they seem on technology.

TM seems super into her Internet censorship. I'm actually worried she'll start filtering everything coming into the UK, China style.

How reliable the figure is I don't know, but Corbyn stated today that young voter registration has increased by about 2 million. (Likely) split between the left wing parties, I'm not sure how useful that's going to be to stop a Conservative or Conservative/UKIP coalition government

There's no chance of a Conservative/UKIP coalition

Watching the ITV debate. Two very big holes in this thing.

And Leanne's accent is still goddamn lovely!

This! I'd be stunned if they get even one MP.

All the stories about them seem to be about them withdrawing candidates.

This.

May is rapidly becoming a fascist dictator and people are too stupid to realise.

I feel like this is a very grand statement when, in the grand scheme of things, very little has tangibly changed under her leadership.

She is suggesting a controlled internet, fox hunting and removing lunches off children. She's moving ridiculously far to the right. The worst thing is she is gaffe central, she's absolutely rubbish.

Her first large changes are about to come into effect. She hasn't been PM for very long really.
