CHALLENGE ONE - GUESSTIMATION

In this challenge to survive you must be good at estimating different things. If you are the kind who has a strong gut feeling and great aptitude for spacial challenges and go far. If your guessing is wildly inaccurate - you will be out on you ass.

Below are four seperate things I would like to hear your BEST GUESS ON. There are a variety of four things to be weighed up, worked out and guessed. The closer you are to guessing the correct number for the things below the better.

The four challenges are us thus.

POKER MOKER -

Currently running on GR is the 'GR Series of Poker 2012'. In this picture there is a number of poker chips, but all I simply want to know is HOW MANY POKER CHIPS are in this pile?

BAXTER -

This is one of my cats - Baxter. He is about three years old, gangly and very stupid. What I want to know is HOW LONG IS BAXTER FROM NOSE TO TAIL IN CENTERMETRES? I have provided 'The Advantage' as a comparison to give you a better chance at guessing correctly!

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON

This is a standard 245g box of 'Celebrations' sold in all good stores around the country. HOW MANY SWEETS DOES IT CONTAIN UPON OPENING?

This is a random book. It is a hardback edition, and contains many pages - but from these two photos can you tell me HOW MANY PAGES IT HAS? Simples.

You may submit one guess for each challenge - and for each increment you are out (each centremetre, each poker chip etc) from the actual amount, you will score a point. The player with the LOWEST score will win the Challenge and gain 'The Advantage' for the next task.

I need you to PM me with your four guesses by 6PM tomorrow. Failure to submit by this time will see you eliminated from the competition. Of the 36 people - the highest NINE scorers in this challenge will be eliminated.

For the 'Average Joes' - you may submit your guesses as normal.

I will be PMing you ballpark figures for all four of the pictures in this task. The correct answer will fall inside these ball park figures.

As for Dan. as 'The Disadvantage'...

You may only guess on THREE of the four pictures. For whichever one you don't guess - you will automatically score 25 points. It is up to you which picture you choose not to answer.

Two questions: for the poker chips, do you want our guesstimate regarding the number of chips with each chip having the same value, or do the values count? and; I assume you mean the end of Baxter's tail, not the point at which it begins?

The end of Baxters tail, and no - its the NUMBER of chips - the values don't count.

So if it was 'how many pieces' on a chess board - I would tell him its between 30 - 40. This obviously is a big help, but can someone overthrow him?

Maybe it's 10 LARGE values with huge differences.

If not, I'll just claim DML rules and let him get on with it.

I will tell you now, my Advantage barely helps me. I'm practically in the same boat as the rest of you. I'm livid.

Its meant to be an advantage that will be hard to overcome. This will be something to get used to. The whole point of the game is that it is unfair. 8-)
