The 1st episode of season 2 is out online but is a TV-14 version so probably best to wait for a unedited version.

Back tonight, Season 2 reviews -

it appears that The Affair will sail over that sophomore slump that has felled so many other Showtime dramas.

Whatever reservations I had about Season 1 were eliminated after watching the first two of the new episodes

The combined performances here are exceptional. That work is helpful in glossing over some of the character flaws.

On the plus side, The Affair is ambitious and meticulously executed, a grown-up series that allows its characters to be flawed and unhappy in a very real, sometime profound way. Even so, those late-season speed bumps and this opening salvo don’t elicit quite the same level of passion that the show initially provoked.

Quality return, I knew about more people getting half an episode so great to see Maura Tierney getting her turn. I was not prepared for cock and balls though. Not much shared time between the 2 stories so not many comparisons outside the mediation.

The Affair’s Season 2 opener outscored last year’s unveiling by double digits. At 10 PM, it kicked off with 815K viewers, which is a 61% improvement on its Season 1 opening’s 507K. For the total night, the show delivered 1.05 million viewers, up 30% compared to Season 1 comparable’s 809K. The Affair was offered for early sampling to subscribers on demand and on authenticated platforms – delivering an additional 485,000 views for a total viewing of 1.54 million viewers for the premiere. That’s 10% better than Season 1’s early sampling of 1.4M.

The Affair's first season became Showtime’s most time-shifted original series, averaging 3.9 million weekly viewers across platforms.

That Jacuzzi scene in the latest episode :slol: Strange they didn't have the normal format, wonder if its a one-off.

Good finale. Fantastic season overall. I'm a bit concerned for next season given that where we are in the plot I'm guessing the case/investigation stuff is going to have much more prominence. I've always felt that was the weakest aspect of the show and that it excels when it's more of a slice of life character study. Excited for it nonetheless.

I've been enjoying this season for the most part but Noah's continuing hallucinations are starting to grate and Cole has barely been in it.

3x09- So Noah is kind of a mess. Really a better twist at this point would have been if Noah hadn't been hallucinating everything. Good episode though.

3x10- Was Joshua Jackson doing a film this year or something? Even in the finale he doesn't get screentime.
-After nine episodes of build-up the show decides to pretend Noah didn't have a breakdown and skips ahead months. Okay.
- The scenes with Whitney were actually rather good surprisingly. Not convinced Noah deserves the redemption
.

I liked the finale but I think this third season was unnecessary. God knows what they're going to do for season 4.

Good episode but a very odd season finale. I really don't like how they skipped over Noah's recovery, completely trivialising his breakdown, assuming this is the last we hear of it.

I enjoyed the season but it felt a bit disjointed and Cole and Allison were largely irrelevant. I'll certainly be back next year but I'm not sure where they can go from here.
