Ah, sorry, yeah, sometimes the problems will occur because of your posture, gait, etc, so the best you can do is just keep on top of polishing them and then replace bits as necessary.

Really, for proper leather, just polishing regularly is all you need.

I've got some Kurt Geiger boots that I got 18 months ago and I've worn the gooseberry fool out of them. They are on their second heels and second laces. I also have to tidy them up with scissors when the stitching comes loose. I got them really cheap and love them - will be gutted when they go.

Whoa, that's not a lot of time to have to change that much. You must wear them constantly!

I have taken to keeping my good shoes in work and wearing my boots on the way in, especially in winter when the rain/salt/grit ruins everything.

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

Got two new dress shirts in the sale from Gieves & Hawks today. Not bad at all, better priced than Hugo Boss shirts which people seem to be all over in town. There was literally no one in the Gieves & Hawks store when I went in. Very pleased with my purchase.

Do any of you guys use thread.com?

It's excellent, and a very good idea. The premise is that you spend ten minutes putting in what clothes (ie basic staple items) you've already got, your size, what you like to wear, and what you're looking for, and it sends weekly recommendations to you.

They talk about you having your own 'sylist', but that's just marketing bollocks. Their emails are excellent, though - lots of tips on how to wear items, what things go with what other things, etc. I've just bought my first two things from them, a striped Reiss t-shirt and a pair of leather Converse. Not arrived yet, so will see how long that takes.

I consider myself to be reasonably fashion conscious, without being a victim, and it's proving to be really useful.

Interesting, haven't heard of it before but just checked it out and signed up. Did you send pictures of yourself? That was the only bit that seemed a bit odd, surely they could just ask things like skin/hair/eye colour and body shape and work from that.

Also a bit worried how low on the scale most of my budgets were...

I'll see how the first few emails go. Went shopping at the weekend and going to a shopping centre was just awful, just wanted some basic coloured t-shirts and shops were either too busy or had different variations on t-shirts like longline, tight fit, v neck etc. I just wanted a normal fitting crew neck t-shirt for goodness sake.

I didn't supply my picture. I also could see no reason why they'd need that! I didn't really believe the stuff about you having a stylist, so I just ignored it. I've still been getting some good recommendations.

I think I went quite low on most of the budget scales, too, they seem to have a lot of sale stuff from different brands - those trainers I've got were £40 down from £70, for example.

I think they're pretty poor, to be honest. Everything they recommend seems really basic (presumably because it's an easy way of making sure it'll most likely look good), and some of the stories they post :dread: "HOW TO WEAR ONE SWEATSHIRT FOUR WAYS" (with smart trousers, chinos, jeans, or shorts. Well I never!)

In fairness as someone who has only the most basic grasp on fashion it's quite nice to read about ways to wear clothes, what goes with what etc.

Just gave it a whirl - ordered a sweater, a shirt, and a polo shirt.

I strawberry floating hate actually going shopping and consequently most of my clothes are like 5+ years old :slol: Will probably order a few more bits and pieces if the stuff is any use.

Seems ok so far, I know what some mean by being it a bit basic, playing it safe from their side i guess.

Nice that they give you a £10 voucher so i'll use that, and they do suggest some sites/shops i wouldn't normally consider so nice to see some more options.

Went to the Goyard boutique in Mayfair, London on Saturday. Was very tempted to buy a card holder but didn't in the end.
Think I will buy it when I go in a few weeks time.
Makes sense as a wallet is quite bulky and I only ever use like 1-2 bank cards and a few notes so this would be ideal.

£195

Here's a unboxing review I found on youtube

I don't know, seems a bit cheap for something that big and that's always going to be on display.

N1FFFFFF - have you considered a bellroy wallet? I've got one and it's very similar to that video you posted, only they're about £60.

I love mine, totally changed the way I view wallets (and by extension, my entire life).

This is mine
