Chameleon is fine and all, but Mysterio would be way better. That guy is great.

Mysterio should have a stand-alone film as villain. The special effects could be spectacular.

Apologies for my ignorance, but if there's a stand-alone Sinister Six film, I would assume that means no Spiderman...so what would the film be about? Who would be the protagonist?

I did this by severing my real arms and replacing them with super-human cyborg arms.

Does it need a Protagonist?
What would be wrong with a film that's just about the bad guys and their initial successes?

Miles Morales is never going to appear on screen.

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach quashed star Andrew Garfield's suggestion that the alternate reality, black-Hispanic version of the character should star in later films, as well as claims that clone Ben Reilly or future incarnation Spider-Man 2099 could be introduced.

"No," Arad told The Playlist.

"The one thing you cannot do, when you have a phenomena that has stood the test of time, you have to be true to the real character inside - who is Peter Parker? What are the biggest effects on his life? Then you can draw in time, and you can consider today's world in many ways.

"But to have multiple ones... I don't know if you remember, but Marvel tried it. And it was almost the end of Spider-Man."

Heaven forbid Sony do something interesting with this franchise.

It almost sounds like he's completely unaware of what's going on in the USM comic. The reference to Marvel struggling with the same concept just backs that up.

WHAT?

Yeah that's why Spider-Man's big comic book event this year is Spider-Verse containing every spider-man ever. Because a spider-man that isn't Peter Parker just doesn't work   :fp:

Shows how strawberry floating clueless they are and in what poor hands the character is.

Also why one of the most entertaining Spidey stories in years was Peter dying and being replaced by Octavius.

I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything special.

Electro was really under utilised and Goblin even more so.

Goblin just felt tacked on at the end as he was needed to kill Gwen. They could have introduced him much earlier and actually given him stuff to do, which would have made Electro being barely in it make sense as he was sharing screen time with Goblin.

I would have done it this way.

Peter fights Ivan and sends him to jail.
Graduates and starts College
Meets Harry Osborne after all these years.
Harry is secretly trying to cure the disease with his fathers research.
Finds and uses the Spider-venom
Turns Goblin but can't control it and destroys part of Oscorp as he tries to escape
Explosion causes Dillon to fall into hydro generator. - Becomes Electro.
Electro leaves Oscorp and goes to Times Square - Fights Spidey.
Gwen/Peter story plays out as all this is going on.
Harry figures that he needs Spider-Mans blood so he can examine it and try and control his Goblin outbreaks.
Asks Peter to ask Spider-Man.
Spider-Man turns up. Says no. Harry turns Goblin and attacks.
Peter beats him, barely but Goblin escapes.
Goblin decides he needs help to beat him.
Breaks Electro out.
Electro drains the power from New York then fights Spidey.
Beaten by Spidey and Gwen. Goblin shows up.
Fights the weakened Spider-Man, figures out it's peter.
Gets beaten, but not before he can kill Gwen.
Spider-Man disappears.
Harry plots from Ravencroft.
Ivan returns as Rhino
The End.

Obviously they wanted to spend a lot of time on the Peter/Gwen relationship, which I can understand given how important it is the the Spider-Man lore, but it just felt to the detriment of the villains and the actual story.

Just my thoughts.

My Spider-Man order would definitely have to be:

SM2>TASM>SM>TASM2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SM3

I posted a similar article in the MCU the other day but chose to delete it because I never heard of the source before. Well it's came up again and again the last few days and this topic is probably as good as anywhere to post it...

Rumor: Spider-Man To Cross Over With The Avengers?
Our take: Sony has no clue what to do with the Wall-crawler.

Yesterday HitFix's Drew McWeeny dropped a little bombshell:

While I can't get the confirmations I need to verify the story, I'm hearing that there are some very cool "Spider-Man" plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom's minds. Will it work out? I don't know. I would love to be able to state for sure that it's happening. What seems clear from what I've heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again.

Spider-Man coming into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? That's a big deal. But get this: it's the THIRD DIFFERENT Spider-Man plan I've heard in the last week. Other things I've heard from insiders:

- Sony is going to soft reboot Spider-Man with The Sinister Six, having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat.

- Sony is going to put Spider-Man on the shelf for four or five years and see if they can develop any of the side characters into their own franchises.

I've also heard that Venom is functionally dead again.

These are three wildly divergent stories, and I'm not sure if any of them are true or if all of them are true. I actually lean towards 'all of them' because that fits into the larger narrative of 'Sony has no clue what to do next.' I think that plans for Spider-Man change as the wind blows in Culver City, and that Marvel Studios could be taking advantage of this fact - as well as the fact that Sony is not doing so great in the movie business these days.

How did it get this far? It's crazy to imagine that the spectre of a new Spider-Man movie makes us unhappy. I remember frothing at the mouth for a quality Spidey film, and now all I want is for Peter Parker to quietly slink off someplace for a few years and leave us be.

If Marvel does work out a deal to reclaim Spider-Man I hope Andrew Garfield comes along; I like the actor in the role, even if I don't like the way the role is written. It will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios brings Spidey in - will they simply accept the reboot movies as canon, or will they reintroduce Spider-Man for the third time in 20 years?

http://badassdigest.com/2014/10/07/rumo ... e-avengers

This story has been rumoured now since ASM2 was released and it didn't quite make the money Sony had intended it too. Marvel are far more supportive of Spider-Man than say X-Men (probably because Sony don't hold any rights to merchandise for their property, where as FOX own the merchandise rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four) so it's in Marvels interests for the Spider-Man films to do well.

They got close to having the Oscorp tower feature in The Avengers, but could something more substantial now be on the way?

I think some of the villains locked away with the Spider-Man rights could be great on something like Agents of SHIELD.

I actually quite like Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker though. He is the one redeeming feature in these newer movies in my opinion, so it would be a shame if the character was recast and rebooted once again (although Marvel are bang on with casting - so if they were to have any input in this then it's less of a worry for me)

strawberry floating hell Sony are a mess. Literally all they see is the $$$$$$$ :fp: :fp:

Glad ASM2 didn't do the money they wanted, it was an absolute state. Like I've said before Andrew Garfield is the only redeeming feature of the ASM2 franchise.

Marvel/Disney throw the money at Sony and get the rights back, please

Spider-Man in The Avengers movies and/or in Marvel's hands doing solo films would be epic.

Wary of Marvel getting into bed with other studios and potentially losing some of their creative control, but I'd be happy with the existing Spider-Man series being killed off. A shame though, Andrew Garfield deserved better, but at least the strawberry floater got Emma Stone out of it :x
