Regarding recommended Spider-man reading:

Ultimate Spider-Man
Every single volume of it.

Denster wrote:Really enjoyed this. Thought Garfield was good. Ifans was decent as was the girl. Martin sheen was quality. Didn't think the lizard was as bad as i'd dreaded to be honest - though he wasn't quite right. The acrobatics, swinging sequences were superbly done and it had a few nice little touches the accidental entrance to the wrestling arena was good.

As good as the first and miles better than the third. 2nd one shades it as Doc ock/ Molina were great.

Most importantly - im looking forward to the next one which i wasn't before. A good sign i think.

Lizard looked better in the film than the promo pics but was still far worse than actual crocodile man lizard.

Just watched Raimi's first Spider-Man, I'd say it's slightly better than Amazing Spider-Man. Not by a whole lot but it's a better made film for-sure, and more coherent. Better villain too

Seen this tonight. Wasn't expecting much, but I quite enjoyed it. Was far better than any of the previous ones if you ask me. At least Parker wasn't an annoying little strawberry float in this one. Tobey Maguire. :fp: "I've been reading poetry lately.". :fp:

Why do so many people in this thread not seem to know who Rhys Ifans is? :|

Tickets booked for this tonight. I've always been a fan of the Ultimate Spider Man graphic novel series, but the Raimi films kind of put me off the character a little.

From the trailers it looks like Garfield could do the character justice again. Impressions later.

It was just what I was expecting to be honest. Very predictable, some exciting bits, some cheesy bits, and a good main actor. Love Garfield. So similar to the other film though, they should have changed it up a bit. The bit with the cranes. :fp: Also, why was lizard man so evil? As far as I know Emma Stone's dad was the only person he killed. And if his plan had gone ahead it would have done what, change everyone into lizards for a few hours, tops?

This film, and all superhero films, are so much more interesting when it's the hero and his abilities mixed with an otherwise 'normal' world, why does there always have to be an equally powerful villain to contend with. :| So lazy.

Edit: Also the 3D was strawberry floating gooseberry fool. I took the glasses off for most of the film, and couldn't even tell the difference except it was brighter. strawberry floating con bullshit.

I saw this today, was pretty good. Not the best superhero film I've ever seen but no where near the worst, Garfield was awesome though.

Lego Grand Theft Auto... You KNOW you would buy it.

Myself and the missus just came back from seeing this (2D mind, 3D can strawberry float right off) and I came on here to post impressions, but Smurphy you've nailed it. I actually read out your post to my gf and she agreed.

Garfield being awesome aside, it almost felt like a copy and paste job. All I could think of anytime the Lizard was on screen was Spider-Man vs Jurassic Park.

6/10 (6 points for Garfield being a great spidey)

Seen it, enjoyed it. Liked Garfield a lot

Obviously retreading everything about him becoming Spiderman but trying to give it a fresh twist. Will be interesting to see what they come up with for 2

Overall

Enjoyable film - strawberry float off Lizards face and cranes :fp: :fp: :fp: /10

Another thing I wanted to add from seeing this last night, I think this has to be up for an award for worst movie soundtrack ever. With most films now days having really great sound to accompany the visual experience, I felt the "music" in this was so horrible to listen to.

Clunky piano keys and 80's horror notes topped off with a coldplay song for good measure.

Oh god this. The bit where the piano just sounds like someone is smacking their head against a random key. So odd. :fp:

It didn't help that the cinema I seen it in is known for having great sound. :fp:
