Just been to see this in 3D. I really enjoyed it, probably because I didn't have any high expectations for it either. The 3D was only good during the swinging scenes, other times it was just there.

I'd give it an 8/10 (better than the original)

:fp: :fp: at the people leave the cinema as soon as the credits rolled even though the cinema lights didn't go on. Interesting scene at the end, but we already know where would be a sequel.

Bit average but still enjoyable enough. Garfield, Stone, Sheen and Fields are all great and the scenes between them all are great. Lizard was complete shite though and I didn't like Ifans in it much at all. I think the time since the last trilogy is to this film's detriment, if this were in ten years time "I've seen this before" wouldn't have factored into it so much.

It set up the central characters nicely though and got through the awkward re-telling of the origin part well enough. Loads of potential for the sequels. Cannot believe they put part of the credits scene in one of the strawberry floating trailers though! :fp:

Speaking of which it has to be Osborne. They said he was dying, could be of cancer. In the Ultimate universe Parker's dad tried to cure cancer with what eventually became Venom. I think they'd be best served leaving Venom for a while though, with Gwen this really has to be Goblin's trilogy and as the central bad guy he'd be best left until the third. Gives him plenty of build up and opportunity to pull the strings. Next film could have a new villain (Electro maybe) with Proto-Goblin created (he's already in the first film) and serving a small part, eventually leading to Osborne's transformation.

I liked the first Spiderman film but then Spiderman 2 was a disappointment so I didn't even want to bother watching the third...but was forced to watch it on a 12 hour flight as I had nothing else to do LOL

Deets!

Oh, may have been wrong about that then. Irrfan Khan was original announced as playing Van Atter but his character changed and I didn't know

Interesting post here:

Basically it points out recuts and deleted storylines that the film clearly had (and showed throughout numerous marketing material)

Yeah was thinking that after the film, so much stuff from the trailers gone and so much left unanswered. I think I would have prefered it if it went through with that whole "Peter's dad did something to his DNA to make him special" like the trailers hinted at, at that would have been something different. Instead it was just retreading pretty much the exact same steps as the previous first film. Yawn.

Can't wait for marvel to get the bloody rights back. Why don't they just spend their Avengers megaprofits to get spidey back :(

First point I think is wrong.

Theres quite clearly a point where Peter decides to do good rather than chase after uncle Ben's killer (when he saves the kid on the bridge).

Saw it earlier and loved it. Better than Spider-Man 1 and 3 of the Raimi trilogy but as Maf has said, Lizard stops this from being better than 2.

Trouble is I thought the Lizard was really awesome, the guy they had playing Connors was fantastic, it was just the really odd design they gave the actual Lizard. If they'd have made him look more lizardy and less human in the face department I think it'd be better than Spidey 2.

Just booked for this for tonight. Taking my daughters. My 13 year old said she wanted to see it. I said you never want to see these sort of films with me. Her reply: "The guy is really fit!"

Well like father like daughter. She'll be bringing out the old "wally john blacks" style phrases sooner than you know it Denny.

Better than the first and third Spider films, it's been too long since I've seen the second to compare. There were issues with pacing and editing but the cast was good and it was a mostly entertaining two hours. At the time I was amused that the picture of Osborn was seemingly so in the shadows because they hadn't cast him yet but then Michael Massee turns up at the end. Presumably he was supposed to be Osborn, he does look like the picture they showed earlier but the way he disappeared was very Mysterio.

7/10

EDIT: Apparently Rhys Ifans has confirmed that Massee wasn't playing Osborn.

I thought the same at the credits scene. It'd be interesting to see what they'd do with Mysterio, if it is him.

Saw this last night and loved it. I didn't so much mind Lizard as a character, it was just his face, as people have pointed it. It looks really stupid. Anyway, it was probably my favourite of the 4 Spidermans. Garfield is perfect for the role and is so much better than Tobey McGuire. Really looking forward to the next one.

Really enjoyed this. Thought Garfield was good. Ifans was decent as was the girl. Martin sheen was quality. Didn't think the lizard was as bad as i'd dreaded to be honest - though he wasn't quite right. The acrobatics, swinging sequences were superbly done and it had a few nice little touches the accidental entrance to the wrestling arena was good.

As good as the first and miles better than the third. 2nd one shades it as Doc ock/ Molina were great.

Most importantly - im looking forward to the next one which i wasn't before. A good sign i think.

I tihnk i'll be catching this on DVD. I just can't kick the feeling that it's too soon and I'm not at all excited about it.

Will be a good reason to reactivate lovefilm later this year.
