Watched a few more episodes and it really is an enjoyable show, its completely bonkers and utterly hilarious at times.

Not overly keen on the strange mishmash of different animation styles, the action sequences seem far better drawn than the comedic bits with Mako, especially when the art style changes to that cutesy Rayman-esque limbs thing which I really don't like.

Also why the hell do male characters in anime get nosebleeds from seeing female characters underwear? I know it's an anime trope but it makes zero sense.

I could never really get into Kill la Kill, it had some good action sequences but I don't like excessive fan-service for the sake of fan-service so stopped watching around about episode 6 or 7. I may try to get into it again as I enjoy a lot of studio Trigger's work.

The nosebleed stuff is supposed to show off extreme excitement and increased bloodflow, it's just a manga gag that has persisted for decades. I don't believe it's a thing in general Japanese culture.

I'm struggling to find new manga to read of late and in terms of anime once Boku no Hero Academia season 2 ends I'll be down to just Made in Abyss.

Yeah, I don't particularly like the constant ass and sideboob that much but I think it's intended as a bit of a joke rather than blatant sexualisation so I can pretty much ignore it given the ludicrous premise of the whole thing in general.

15 year old me would have loved it though.

I highly recommend the first 2 seasons of Rurouni Kenshin. As of last night there was no date as to when it will be removed from Netflix UK, so you should have plenty of time to get the two seasons watched.

Its like the gloriously crazy lovechild of Fist of the North Star and Sailor Moon (I love how my autocomplete followed the word sailor with moon).

Someone actually listened to a recommendation of mine?! :o

Oh and if you've never seen it, I highly highly recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender, it's western but it's absolutely amazing. Great animation, loads of action, amazing characters and story line. One of my all time favourites.

I'm already on episode 17, I intended to just watch a few this afternoon and ended up binge watching it for 3 hours.

I already said how insane the plot is but the last few episoded I watched took things to whole new levels of batshit crazy, I wasn't quite expecting that quasi incestuous bath scene though, I think that is a bit too much.

Finished Kill la Kill, that was one hell of weird ride but it was good nonetheless.

Continuing my current anime spree I've started watching Gurren Laggan.

It's a bit less mental than Kill la Kill and the main characters seem more developed with more personality. The animation itself is a lot better too and has an almost Ghibli quality to it.

Been a bit of an anime summer for myself. Watched the following: Berserk - 1997 (and I'm up to volume 18 of the manga), Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Little Witch Academia, Death Note, Hunter x Hunter (first 30), One Piece (first 25), Samurai Champloo and just started Psycho-Pass (not sure if I'll stick with it). Lots of great stories and brilliant moments.

One Piece is still staggering in volume, so I think it's much easier to dig in to something with a manageable end point rather then something that'd take me months of watching. 65 episodes of FMAB felt like significant time investment.

LOL, I think your mind will change on this later on. Gurren Laggan is epic/mental on a huge scale.

That's a fantastic list of shows. One Piece Manga is the GOAT. The anime is too close to the manga so for years the pacing has been terrible. I would recommend watching the anime for at least 350 episodes () before switching to the manga.

One Piece really hooked me in around the episodes you're about to start watching. One Piece.

Only ones I've not seen in your list are Little Witch Academia and Psycho Pass.

One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 should absolutely be on your anime must watch list too!

It's a gem of a series isn't it? It's worked its way to one of the series I most look forward to reading and watching each week.

Hopefully season 3 gets confirmed soon as it would cover so many amazing moments,

I'm currently only watching what's available on Netflix but the selection isn't great. so I might have to turn to the high seas for some of the other stuff I've been wanting to watch.

Funny you said that - I read volume one of One Punch Man this morning (I picked up all the manga from eBay). Also have the first 12 of One Piece to get to. I think One Piece might be a show I try and watch an arm at a time. Gonna watch the OPM and MP100 when I've read all of OPM.

Any other short, ideally dubbed, anime you'd recommend other then those? Got a week before school starts again so I could fit something else in while I finish my next Gundam (I'm such a cliche).

I don't recommend Dubbed.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is about 25 episodes long. Mech anime but far more interesting.

One Punch Man is either 10/12 and I think Mob Psycho 100 is the same.

I would recommend watching OPM anime first. The pacing is fantastic, the animation quality is top notch and it's very very accurate to the Manga.

Also, buying manga/anime...dafuq...there are places to rrent these from.

Dubbed is simply so I can build at the same time.

I've obtained a whole lot of Manga as well as the bits I've bought. Thus all of Berserk getting read. In fact I've found the Kindle Paperwhite is pretty brilliant as a manga reader, thus why I've gotten through so much.

I watched 'Garden of Words' recently - anyone else seen it? Having watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time fairly recently as well, I have to say I enjoyed them both, and loved the animation. I think the key for me is finding anime or animated films with an art style that I like, or can at least tolerate. Most of the stuff I'd seen in the past I just dismissed because I found the art style really annoying. Stuff I 'should' like - like Akira for example - I just can't get past how ugly the characters are, so it puts me off watching. Can anyone recommend any films similar to the two I've mentioned? I have 5cm Per Second already but haven't seen it yet.
