It's a gem of a series isn't it? It's worked its way to one of the series I most look forward to reading and watching each week.

Hopefully season 3 gets confirmed soon as it would cover so many amazing moments,

Do they ever do crossovers in mangas? Would love to see how they'd handle the "quirkless" heroes of One Punch Man in Academia.

Very rarely, and if they do it's usually an author's own works. I'm sure there are a few, like when Toriko, Dragonball and One Piece did a crossover, but they're the exception rather than the rule. Closest we're likely to get is another Jump Vs game since they're both published by Shonen Jump.

It was to be expected, but today came the sad news that Hunter X Hunter has returned to hiatus now that Togashi has pumped out a volume's worth of chapters.

Shueisha publish Shounen Jump and the Young Jump Web Comic that One-Punch Man appears in so it is possible that a spinoff could happen.

We had a One Piece and Dragonball chapter around a decade ago, and iirc there was a special episode of One Piece which featured characters from Toriko and Dragonball a few years back.

Out of interest, which episode are you up to now? I wouldn't want to accidentally spoil something.

Accidentally read a spoiler about the ending of Gurran Laggan which reveals a main characters death and I'm kind of dreading it as it could be another Up or Watership Down tear jerking moment.

I never usually cry at sad bits but those two absolutely destroyed me for some reason.

Ta for the infos!

Just finished ep 9. (Villains invade rescue lesson.)

Other than the obvious superhero connection, for me something else MHA has in common with O-PM is how it got a lot more interesting once the other heroes got introduced.

You're in for a treat with the next few episodes, and then season 2 comes along and somehow manages to top it while also having twice as many episodes.

There's also a spinoff prequel of sorts which focuses on unlicensed vigilante heroes with a few cameos from the main cast and hints at future plot points. No word on that getting an anime, but it's only around 15 chapters so far and is fairly enjoyable.

A few characters in OPM and BnHA also share similar ideals/goals and it would be interesting to see how they would interact.

Finally managed to watch the bonus episode of Kill la kill which is inexplicably missing on Netflix.

its a far better ending than the 'final' 24th episode and pretty much wraps everything up nicely.

Just finished Gurren Laggan, that's definitely one of the best anime series I've seen.

I was right about the ending, nowhere near the same as the effect Watership Down had on my 10 year old self (floods of tears, sobbing .etc) but I definitely 'got some dust in my eyes' at a couple of parts Kamina's brief reappearance, Nia's death and older Simon looking clearly broken by the whole experience.

There was plenty of action, humour and downright insanity to offset the oddly existential crisis* inducing ending though.

*the final universe scale battle had the same effect as watching anything about the size of the universe has on me - that creeping feeling of being utterly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Just typing that made me feel a bit weird.

Oh maaaan! 11, 12 and half of 13 were teeense. And holy gooseberry fool at my failing to spot Naval Laser guy was missing for most of it  :fp:

Double the eps for season 2?! Yass!

And now back to the rest of ep 13 :slol: Took a break to calm tf down.

edit: what's the deal with that copper in the long coat? Seems kinda big for a regular cop...

A couple of years ago I read - and thoroughly enjoyed - the Death Note manga series. It was a terrific story that kept me interested all the way through and I thought the artwork was cool, too.

I have now started watching the anime version and I'm surprised by how closely it mirrors the manga. It captures the atmosphere pretty well and, although I do prefer the storybook version, this is proving to be good entertainment.

Now watch Avatar, it's such an amazing show, I'd rate it above Gurren Laggan. Awesome action, back story development, and best of all the animation is superb, and it's also on Netflix (Or at least here in Canada it is)!

Aoyama with the navel laser is amazing. Wait 'til you hear his hero name.

I assume you mean Tsukauchi - He's a close friend of All Might's and works with him/bends the rules to protect his secret.

I look forward to seeing your impressions of the Tournament arc, it's often regarded as one of the best in any anime or manga. It's also worth noting that a lot of the season 2 episodes feature substantial after-credit scenes that are worth watching.

The cop: Aye, him. He just seemed to have a bit of a spotlight on him (as it were) for a background character. I should have continued watching the ep before making the observation out loud.

I didn't like navel laser at first, but since they've moved to the classroom setting he's one of my favourite supporting characters.

I learned about after credits the hard way  Ta for the heads up on s2's.

I've always overlooked Avatar as it looks to be aimed at a younger audience. This might just be because it was shown on Nickelodeon and I assumed that as an adult it'd bore me to death.

Edit: just started Rurouni Kenshin and it seems fairly decent so far apart from Kenshins irritating voice already making me consider switching to the English dub.

Not at all! It's true it was on Nickleodeon and so it's no where near the level of NSFW as Kill la Kill, but the story was really amazing, it's a little slow to start though, give it around 3-4 episodes.

I usually prefer subs but I went with dub for RK and enjoyed it.

Edit: just switched to Japanese audio and... man, that'd take some getting used to.

Combined with the hairstyle (seemingly later borrowed by Kasumi from DOA) it makes him seem incredibly efeminate, although that seems a common thing in anime (and JRPG's).

Which is funny because first time I ever saw Kenshin (on a tee) I thought he was a female.

I think that was a fairly common trait of popular manga/anime art-styles of the mid-late-90's. It's quite interesting to see how the industry evolves with certain art-styles or subject matter being the new 'in' thing for a few years before they move on.

Certainly makes you more appreciative of those authors who have stuck to their own unique style over the years or being responsible for a trend in the first place.

I've just seen that the season finale of Made in Abyss is going to be an hour long. I enjoyed the anime so much I ended up getting up-to-date with the manga in the space of a couple of hours, but boy does it have me looking forward to seeing certain things animated.
