This arc is where I stopped watching. I was bored. I don't know why, but it didn't click with me and I LOVED the show up until then.

Yeah, don't blame you. I felt like that when the tall dude is all You're both weak af. I rolled my eyes so hard at that, but then I remembered my initial reaction to when nen was first introduced and so just kept watching.
My biggest issue is how long everything is taking to set up. Usually that wouldn't be an issue because we'd have the two protags to keep us entertained, but the episodes are ant-centric and they're mostly dull or edge lords. But thankfully things have started to pick up in the last couple of eps.

I stopped watching here as well, I can't remwmber why though.

I did feel like they went a bit overboard with all the characters that get killed. Oh you think this guy won't die? Ha think again! Also why did they spend so much time talking about the leader of the country the ants are in (I forget the name, it's the country where technology is not permitted) only to not even show the dude? Does he appear at some other point?

Holy gooseberry fool at your first point  Just got through watching ep 85 and right at the end *BAM* dead Kite. And that after Gon gets through saying what he does! WTF?! (To say nothing of that kid from the first arc, the one in the turban like head gear being operated on and now *also* likely being dead.) Goddamn narrator wasn't exaggerating about it being a tough time ahead for all.

Finished watching Space Battleship Yamato 2199 today, really enjoyed that overall, was great to have a nice epic sci-fi anime that's actually set in space to sit through again.

Also watched the first episode of 2202 and it's definitely off to an interesting start.
Is there a movie or something that bridges the gap between them though? Because there's definitely quite the disconnect between the end of 2199 and start of 2202.

Where did you find 2202 to download?

It's part of my (US) Funimation subscription

Only the first episode so far, think they're simul-dubbing it.

I finished HxH like two years ago, and I'm still reeling from ep 80. It was just so brutal, it felt like a huge turning point in the tone of the series. Ponzu deserved better.

As for ep 85, I didn't care much for Kite, but God damn, his death leads to some of Gon's best scenes in the series.

I loved HxH until the Chimera Ant arc, and from that point onwards I started loving the show even more. Can't think of an anime I like more.

In other news I hadn't watched any anime for the longest time, until today. Stumbled on a show called Zatch Bell (Called 'Gash' Bell in the original Japanese release...but fair enough that they changed it) on a twitch stream. It seemed rather strange and being an early 00s anime/manga it's still got that 90s look which I adore.

Watched the first couple of episodes and I'm enjoying it so far. Liking the character designs and the humour, though some repeated lines from Zatch got a bit annoying. Normally I watch subbed but I came across the dub first and decided to roll with it. Seems okay, and apparently it's barely censored anyway.

Also I love terrible westernised openings:

So catchy.

I wish the people who gave up on it early would give it another go. I mean, I doubt anyone found the start of the Ant arc more boring than I did, but I stuck with it, sometimes even by skipping scenes , and then eventually it got going and I was hooked all over again. It may yet fall off a cliff (no idea how far I've yet to go but Gon and Kil just met up with Kite again :( ) but it's entertained me enough that I give it a chance to win me over if it does.

Chocolate-Milk wrote:A Silent Voice is on Netflix now. I gave it another watch last night, and it's still as good as I remember. Honestly better than the manga imo

Finished this the other day and my only gripe was how certain elements were introduced only to be then given the slightest of mentions, or not mentioned ever again. Other than that I'm glad I watched it, even though it was super difficult at the start. Kids can be such gooseberry fools :x :(

Only 51 more eps of HxH to go  I may then give the older version a go, just to see how different it is.
