I say this every week, but Dr. Stone is such a great read. Perfect balance of humour and drama - it's already hitting the top rankings of Jump and when it gets an anime announced it is going to be huge.

Dat colour page.

Also, Last Jedi poster by BnHA's Horikoshi. :datass:

Oh shi- Kurapika has all the nens! :o (He's fighting muscles dude from Phantom Troupe.)

That poster looks odd. Some characters (namely Empire lot and Rey) look fine, everyone else (including the logo) looks misshapen.

That was a really good fight. Also, is Dr. Stone drawn by Boichi, that guy character looks just like the lead from Sun Ken Rock...

Yeah, Dr. Stone's artwork is done by Boichi though he has somewhat simplified his style to fit a shounen mag. It's also written by Inagaki Riichiro of Eyeshield 21 fame.

Agreed about the Star Wars poster, It's like they've edited the mid-lower half to fit a standard poster size but I still love it.

Kurapika has got to have one of the most complicated, headache-inducing set of nen abilities yet I love him for it.

HxH 47: ( ,..) I hope that wasn't the beginning of a slow decent for Kurapika. The burying scene was messed up.

48: It's HxH Antiques Roadshow

Read the first 2 volumes of Terra Formars recently.
This is rather good isn't it?

I've been struggling to read new things for over a year now but decided to give Kingdom another go tonight. Quite enjoying it so far, just got another 500 chapters to go.

It's great for a number of volumes but sadly lost the plot after a while. The translation & scan quality also dropped off massively so I've put it on hold for the time being until the official English release catches up or a new team takes over.

It's the official translation I've been reading so scan quality should be good at least.

Just checked my usual site and it seems the scans have all been updated with a decent translation. Last time I read it, it was like someone had just added the text to google translate so you can imagine how bad it was.

Guess I'll be joining you and finish the series off.

Edit: Boku no Hero Academia Season 3 PV.

The thing that kind of irks me is there was clearly some sort of translation error with his nen abilities, because...

He can use every ability equally well when his eyes turn red, yet he's referred to as a "specialist". That's not what that word means :x

I don't think any team or even the official release has ever been clear with regards to some Nen abilities which gets worse as Kurapika turns the complexity to 11.

The Specialist class is very vague from what we've seen so far.Kurapika is a natural Conjurer, with his switch to a Specialist occurring when his eyes turn scarlet granting him maximum stats (that he's capable of) in each Nen type. His different chain abilities and self-imposed limitation on top of this further adds to the headache so I now just accept everything he does without questioning how.

Chrollo is another pain in the arse due to the nature of his specialisation. :dread:

Something I noticed back when I first watched DBZ was how once baddies (namely Piccolo and Vegeta) became good guys. I remember being surprised by this as having grown up on Western animation I wasn't used to baddies having redemption arcs. Is this something centric to Japanese culture as a whole, or just something that is often seen in Japanese/Eastern animation? I guess it's a way of having well rounded characters.
Just wondering out loud as I'm possibly seeing it happen again in HxH. I've also seen in it Rurouni Kenshin with various characters, but in HxH it's happening to some outright "bad guys".

Oh and Merry Christmas!

I've seen it happen in western animation as well. In Beasties (Transformers) for example Dinobot started out as a Decepticon but was taken in my the Maximals.

I think most animation in the west though is more centred towards younger kids though so they tend to have simpler plots.

Beasties was a stupid name.

Mob Psycho 100 and Prison School have both come to an end. :(

I'm really going to miss Mob's ghost-busting adventures with those loveable scamps Reigen and Dimple. Prison School was always a guilty pleasure but the previous arc really dragged on too long and it sadly ended with a whimper.
