There definitely is something inherently a bit odd about how anime fans (me as well!) engage with anime - ships, best girls, waifus, figurines... - and I can understand why it puts people off the medium. In my experience, nine anime nerds out of ten mean it totally harmlessly - basically tongue-in-cheek - like how someone might rank their favourite superheroes, or 'debate' whether Batman could beat up Iron Man, or put an action figure on their shelf. I am conscious that's not how it looks from the outside though so I would never use that terminology outside of a fan community (like this thread).

Batman definitely could beat Iron Man.

Anyway, still watching (and enjoying) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I've just got about 1/3 left to watch and things are getting quite interesting.

If anything happens to Winry I'll not be pleased

Agreed. Like all Batman vs. ... questions, it comes down to the environment the fight is in, and the prep time Batman is allowed.

Well over a decade, man. It feels completely unreal that we're finally here at this point in the story.

All caught up with March Comes in Like a Lion, great show about a guy whose a professional Shogi player. It's like a slice of life, but get this, stuff actually happens! I'm also really liking the art style.

I've also gone back to try and finish Hajimete no Gal. You can really see it's a pretty low budget show, whenever there's actual animation it seems like the quality totally tanks. Still I think it's enjoyable, and it's nice to see a romantic comedy where the main character actually has a spine.

The last two episodes of Dragon Ball Super were pretty damn great with a big improvement in animation quality for the climax of the ToP. Sad saying goodbye to Son Goku and friends once more although there is a movie coming later this year.

Shinjuku Station is apparently currently decorated like this, to advertise the new u's solo albums:

Google suggests this is the busiest train station in the entire world. And now it's the Love Live! metro station.

I also heard recently that the Japanese Red Cross are running a campaign called Love in Action, in which the Sunshine!! girls ask you to give blood:

Not strictly anime related, but Kizuna Ai is now an official tourism ambassador as well:

tl;dr:   Japan.

Brer recommended it a while ago and I got on it when it eventually returned to Netflix. Took me ages to get into it but once I did

I finished watching Hajimete no Gal, overall, I give it a big thumbs up. The animation quality is all over the place, it looks like their budget was somewhere in the $40 range but it is so nice to see a romantic comedy that actually has a plot where the main character actually chooses a girl and isn't totally spineless.

I've now started watching Scum's wish, which is also on Prime, the animation is pretty good, there are so many love triangles going on it may actually be a love triangular pyramid, or some other stupid 3D shape. The point is it's good as well.

Caught up with the new season of Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan and I forgot how funny it could be. Tsundere grandpa is a personal favourite.

Finished FMA: Brotherhood earlier this week, That was great stuff and one of the best anime series I've seen. Not quite as good as Cowboy Bebop or batshit as Gurran Laggan but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was glad to see Ed and Winry finally (awkwardly) admit they love each other but christ it took them long enough didn't it.

I started rewatching OPM the other day. Great show, genuinely deserves its popularity & success.

I realised shortly after hearing it the first time who Etsuko was. Listen to this:

Though the Dandy end theme is on a whole other level for me, she is obviously a very talented lady!

+1 to OPM *finally* being on Netflix! Already seen it the once quite a few months ago, but I've re-watched about 5 of the eps on Netflix in 2 days and continue to be blown away by it. I really hope the studio responsible for series 2 is able to do it justice.

I'm also watching Kakegurui on Netflix. Enjoying that as well as I consumed 11 eps in about 4 days. (That's quick for me!) I seem to love most media which centres around card games, gambling, etc. (Even though I have a very poor grasp of how any of it works. I wonder if there's a word which describes people who are drawn to things they have little understanding of... now all I need a maths anime and I'll be set!)
