Excluding the more popular categories, such as film and music, I'm looking to immerse myself into theatre, literature and art. I mean, I read the odd book here and there, but I've never really read any of the classics. I'm quite 'uncultured' when it comes to theatre, and art is something I can appreciate but has never really grabbed me.
So, I'm looking for recommendations, stories, and experiences. Things to listen to, books/poems to read, shows to see, museums/galleries to visit, anything. Very broad I know, but hopefully that will allow for some good discussions and such.
Read 'The Master and Margarita' Someone who's opinion on novels (and art in general) I respect a lot said that out of any piece of art (tv/music/film/art/books etc.) he had ever engaged with, this book was the only thing he saw fit to call a masterpiece.
It really an astonishingly imaginative book and considering the time and place it was written it's elevated to something truly spectacular. It wasn't originally written in English, which accounts for why it's sometimes difficult to follow, but I highly recommend it.
Also if you're looking for a good poem you wont find many better than Beowulf. As well as being a cracking read it's also a superb piece of history and really gives you an insight into early Anglo-Saxon Britain.
As for museums well for starters I'll suggest the blindingly obvious British Museum, it's arguably the best in the world.

Very interesting. I'll check out The Master and Margarita for sure, and Beowulf as well. I really wanted to go to the British Museum last year when they had the Terracotta Warriors over, but I never got around to it. Thanks for the post!
Cheers to Jaxley and pedro as well, I'll look into those.
