I tried this on PS Extra

It's pretty good the combat feels very impactful but doesn't have a lot of depth.

Shame the whole story isn't more focused on Ms Marvel. She's easily the most interesting character. As soon as I had to start playing as hulk i kind of lost interest

Seems they are killing this game end of March without releasing She-Hulk and Captain Marvel. Game to also be delisted later this year

I'm sure we'll all get a refund for the online game we can no longer play....

I shall miss playing as Hulk and punching a very small robot 10 times to kill it.

Wish my image sig would work

Final Update on the Future of Marvel’s Avengers

To our amazing community,

After two-and-a-half years and introducing twelve of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, following Update 2.8 on March 31, 2023, we will no longer add new content or features to Marvel’s Avengers. All official support for the game will end on September 30, 2023.

Even after official support ceases on September 30, 2023, both single- and multi-player gameplay will continue to be available. See below for more information.

Update 2.7, which added the Winter Soldier Hero and Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat, is the last new content to be added to the game. No new cosmetics are coming to the Marketplace, and all final balance updates will occur in Update 2.8 in March.

Along with the end of development, we’ll also be turning off the cosmetics Marketplace. When Update 2.8 launches on March 31, 2023, Credits will no longer be purchasable and all remaining Credit balances will be converted into in-game resources to aid ongoing adventures. Here is a table with the resources that will be granted based on existing Credit balances:

Image

As a show of our appreciation for our community, starting March 31, 2023 we will make all the game’s Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content available to all players for free. Every single Outfit, Takedown, Emote, and Nameplate from the Marketplace, Challenge Cards, and Shipments will be free for all players from this date onwards if you own a copy of the game.

Gifting the full library of Marketplace cosmetic content is a way to thank our community by letting everyone experience the breadth and depth of content in Marvel’s Avengers.

We know this is disappointing news as everyone in our community has such a connection to these characters and their stories. We’re so, so grateful that you came on this adventure with us. Your excitement for Marvel’s Avengers – from your epic Photo Mode shots, to your threads theorizing who our next Heroes would be, to your Twitch streams – has played a large part in bringing this game to life.

We hope you continue to play and enjoy Marvel’s Avengers. We can’t thank you enough for your support and for being part of our super team.

– Marvel’s Avengers Development Team

Oh, man, it's sad that development of the game is ending; it never quite caught on but it seemed to be pretty good. I'm glad that the game will continue to be playable and the giveaway of all DLC seems... incredible. There are tons of cool outfits... I'd love to get 'em all and am kinda wondering what the catch is here?

It started off great (Single Player) but as soon as the GaaS stuff started appearing it just went downhill.

Although... maybe as the single-player was great and all the marketplace gear is to be made free, this could become a cool title to try out?

Ah! Perhaps the catch is that, with the game being removed from sale, the player base will gradually fall away and so then the severs will be turned off. Oh well, hopefully we'll get a few months to enjoy trying out all those outfits and characters.

May all mediocre live service games go the same way.

They really did strawberry float this didn't they, given the strength of the license?

Complete opposite to GOTG which nailed it. Wonder how the earnings on each compares.

Don’t even think GotG sold all that well for them did it? The Square/Marvel duo wasn’t as fruitful as Square imagined, they should have just let Crystal make a good Avengers single player action/adventure game how they wanted and not shoehorn in GaaS.

Square said it underperformed their initial expectations, yeah.

Thing is they seemed to have tried a GaaS and a single player focused game with the two licenses and both failed, so I'm really not sure what they'll take from it  I suppose Avengers wasn't that well received but GOTG reviewed really well

Avengers was pretty much doomed even without the GaaS stuff as soon as the reveal trailer dropped because they tried to cut costs by not licensing the movie actor likenesses. As soon as people saw those character models you could just watch interest fizzle away. The GaaS stuff was just the final nail in an already closed coffin.

They didnt need to license the movie actors. They just had to make their versions not bland and generic. Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't use the likenesses and it works absolutely fine, in fact is all the better for it because it allows their interpretations of the characters to shine.

There's no catch, this is what all of these kind of games with monopoly currencies do when they get shutdown. They open up all of the previously gated content to everyone so they can finish up the game before the servers go offline and it becomes completely unplayable.

And the final game update is available! There are now *loads* of outfits/items (old and new) to enjoy for free! :toot: .

The Marketplace has been unlocked! What does this mean?

> Nearly all MCU- and non-MCU-inspired Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, and Nameplates are now automatically available on your Hero Card.

> Items that are earned through the campaign, however, or purchased through the Cosmetic Vendor must be earned or purchased, respectively, as they always have been.

> Both the Shipments system and Hero Challenge Cards have both been completely removed from the game. Items that were previously earnable from Shipments and Hero Challenge Cards are included in the hundreds of Marketplace items that are automatically granted when you update to v2.8.

> You do not need to be connected to the internet to be able to access all of the unlocked Marketplace content after updating to v2.8.

As a thank-you to players who’ve been with us on the journey, we’re granting a special Founder’s Gift – Iron Man’s ‘Variable Threat Response Battle Suit.’ This Outfit will be automatically granted to any player who has earned at least one Trophy/Achievement before April 1.
