PostThe Awesome Articles Thread
by Lex-Man » Sat Jan 14, 2017 11:51 pm

I thought it might be cool to have a place to share interesting articles that we've found online so others can discuss them.

Anyway I offer up this article about vertical farming. It sounds like a pretty interesting idea.

Yep vertical farming is interesting and if we can combine it with using insects as animal feed we could increase food production a fair bit.

Why do people keep trying to make blimps a thing again?

The theory of using them for freight transportation is sound as it's quicker than travel over land and will use a fraction of the fuel. These airships don't require large landing areas so are ideal for the UK. The real mystery to me is why they haven't been made to work yet.

This thing is far from a blimp by the way it's bloody massive. It's 91m long and an A380 is only 72.72m.

I was a bit disappointed to find out you couldn't go on a blimp 'Sky Cruise'.

They don't use hydrogen any more so that's not going to happen.
There have been plenty of plane crashes but we still use those.

Hyuuuuge exposé of Seal Team 6, the team infamous for taking down Bin Laden. Fanatically narrative, genuinely interesting.

This was a really interesting read.

I'm not surprised that special ops guys have committed atrocities, it must be a surreal existence. And despite all the bad stuff they do, I'm still glad they're out there killing the bad guys.

Does remind me of the classic Nietzsche quote "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster." Very apt.

I never said I agreed with it, quite the opposite. But I'm not surprised that it happens, when you have professional killers doing what they want they'll tend to end up doing bad things, that's just history repeating itself.
