Like when the Monkees 'reformed'? 'Now and then' reminded me of this...

We went to the Beatles museum and I wouldn't really recommend it. It starts out on the first floor being really interesting and taking you through in a proper chronological order of the formation up and through hamburg, then on the other floors it's just like here's some random gooseberry fool kind of related to the Beatles. Guitars that are not anything owned and played by them, just a similar model they've got, lots of pictures of album covers and so on. By the last floor where its the final years its just yellow submarine toys and that sort of thing. It's a shame as if it all had the story thread that the first floor had, then it would have been amazing.

Is that the one owned by Pete Best's brother?

Surprised it doesn't just have a huge banner saying "strawberry float YOU RINGO STARR!"

I respect Pete Best just for releasing the greatest named album in history.

Just needs a question mark on the title, an arrow pointing to that circle, and someone pulling a youtube face to make a great thumbnail.

All sounds a bit John Lennon ‘Woman’ rather than The Beatles to me. It’s ok. Not sure it’s come out like it might have done if the four of them had ‘genuinely’ worked on it.

Spotted a special edition CD single of this in HMV today, so I picked up a copy. There were supposed to be vinyl versions too but they were too expensive, they've sold out, and I haven't got a turntable to play one on anyways.

Still nice to have a physical copy though.

I bought a vinyl copy. First single I've bought in at least the last 15 years and the first vinyl I've bought since the early '90s. I have nothing to play it on.

I highly doubt it'll ever be worth anything, but I'm going to leave it sealed, put it away safe and hope I'm a millionaire in 20 years time. :datass:

My last single was a little more recent and that was a limited edition version of Ed Sheeran: Eyes Closed, which i ordered from HMV because doing so meant i received a signed copy.

I honestly can't remember the last vinyl record i bought though.

I reckon I could make a lot of money if I could get John Lennon to sign my copy of Now and Then.

Much better clean up of Lennon's vocals. It always bugged me that whatever they did for Free as a Bird and Real Love, they made his voice sound far worse than the demo tapes.

Now and Then is not a bad song. It will sit quite happily in the lower to mid range of Beatles tracks. But as a final record, it's a tad too solumn for me. I guess the complete end of anything is bittersweet, but if Real Love had been done properly I think that would be a better finale.

I'm pretty sure I found the album from a recommendation here in probably the GamesRadar days, but Everyday Chemistry, and the "story" behind it, is well worth a listen. I actually quite like the story:

a guy went into the desert or something and went to a parallel time line where the Beatles never split and managed to bring back their latest album

The more i hear the song, the more i like it, reminds me a little of some of Lennon's solo tracks.

Same, it gets better every time I listen to it.

It's never going to be a top 10 Beatles song. Probably not even top 50. But it's good and it has a good story behind how it came to exist.

Ditto. I really wasn’t sure at first but now I think it is genuinely great. Still has a strong hint of ‘Woman’ about it - then again that is not a bad thing. Just belongs to JL and not the Fab Four (IMO).

Boomers live too long these days and their stranglehold over everything from property to pop culture to politics has me at my wits end. I like the Beatles well enough but with this, the movie Yesterday and that Peter Jackson thing a few years back, can we just bloody move on?!
