My dads got a gas bbq. Had it for years and it's excellent. Treat it well and look after the weird "charcoal" trays and the food is delicious. He has a smoker tray too for extra deliciousness.

It's a lot bigger than the picture makes it look.

And there was me thinking that that was the actual size...

Having said that, how awesome would a desktop barbecue be? We would need tiny bits of chicken, miniature sausages, miniscule bacon rashers and little steaks and then could have that barbecue taste at work without leaving the office.

People get pissy about the smell of food, but everyone loves the barbecue smell.

And we could really piss off everyone in the gas/charcoal debate if we were cooking barbecue food via USB.

I really think you guys might be onto something here.

Maybe I could add a poll potion...

Edit: right, I'm a poll N00b, I did NOT know that would wipe the results. :fp: RIP in peace, BBQ poll.

No need to explain Poser. We all know that it was (rightly) done to erase the fact that the majority of charcoal chumps have embarrassed themselves with their voting. You were doing the forum a favour.

If you're using gas, you might as well just hold the meat over your stove. Gas is doing barbecues wrong. Charcoal all the way.

All the people saying gas is bad, do they not have experience with modern gas barbecues which usually incorporate some form of coals or similar to get that flavour?

What I would say is that I actually quite enjoy the process of building a barbecue. The mild tension while you wait to see if it's going to turn out ok  It's part of the process/fun.

What I wouldn't miss would be having my clothes stink of smoke.
