I'm afraid I can only remember the last three. Raw Liver, Steven and Sacred Heart. Although Sacred Heart was the last one to get, Steven was by far the most irritating, the amount of variables you need to be lucky with is disgusting.

Mad props for doing it, Sykes. I'm still working my way through the last 20-30 secrets and items, although I think I'll give it a break until Afterbirth comes out as it's been taking up nearly all my gaming time recently.

last week i asked the fans what minor fixes/updates they wanted to see in the next update, and i read them all (if all means the top 20 or so). a lot of the more common suggestions will be finding their way into the update.. but the one that stuck out for me the most was that “sacrifice rooms are worthless”

this is something i agree with and again something that i felt held more weight/significance to the games theme/story due to it being the focal point to finding the lost. but alas we all know how that ended… but what to do with them now?

on the gameplay side of things the sacrifice room was meant to be a “i got too much life” archetype, where as if you found more life than you needed you could gamble with it in said rooms… but no one does that.. why? because its too luck based with its payouts.

well i can say this, i found a way to fix this system… but its a but of an overhaul that will need to be added into afterbirth instead of just a normal update… but it should make things a lot more interesting.

and last up one final tease….

a new item from afterbirth called de… oh wait no that would totaly give it away… im sure someone out there can figure out what the item does?

I've banned myself from playing this until Afterbirth is out :lol:

only got everything to do with The Lost left (and, somehow, getting Super Meat Boy and Super Bandage Girl.)

Any tips for either, Sykes? Or anyone else for that matter? Spent about 2 hours trying today but to no avail. I'm thinking my best bet is one of, or a combination of the 9 lives cat thing, the Stopwatch or some Gnawed Leaf/Daddy Longlegs synergy. I guess it's just persevering really.

You have the best strat there with the latter. Holy Mantle is an amazing item too for obvious reasons.

As for SMB and SBG, unfortunately it's just luck. There's a 50% chance of getting either item drop and nothing you can do to influence it. Using the Book of Revelations does ensure you fight a horseman though on every other floor so getting that early helps.

Bisnap actually got SMB and SBG in consecutive runs, without even particularly going for it. I was *soo* strawberry floating pissed. And jealous.

Thanks. I did know all of that so was pretty sure I'd just have to keep grinding at it. That's crazy getting them both one after another. I don't even know want to know how many runs I've played without managing to get either!

Just had a run as The Lost where I had:

Holy Mantle (can absorb one hit without taking damage)
The Soul (repels enemy fire)
Pyromaniac (immune to explosions)
Skatole (flies are harmless)
Guppy's Collar (50% chance to respawn when you die)

Sounds like a pretty decent set of items for him, right? Still died on Mom's Heart. I had literally the same damage at the end as when I started the run. My first 3 boss items were health ups.

dead eye is a fan suggested item that raises damage with each consecutive hit and causes your tears to become red glowing balls of death if you play well.

this week im going to spoil a new item (mostly because a few new features aren’t finished enough to show).

and one final tease… afterbirth will feature daily runs with score boards!

what does this mean? well every day the game will generate a specific seed that will be generated the same for everyone (minus locked things) and you can now compete against the internet for best score in the run! this feature was one of my favorites in spelunky and i always wanted to do it in isaac… but how do you score a game like isaac? more on that in a later post…

Both items sound really cool, especially the former which rewards accuracy. And daily seeded runs...I'm destined to play this forever. :dread:

The daily runs sound awesome, although not entirely sure how scoring will work. I guess it'll be based on different criteria depending on the seed itself? Either way it's another feature that makes me wonder when I'll ever not want to play this game.

The daily seed will be the same across all platforms though so I'm pretty sure I can beat both Sykes and you.
