We were still in the second week when the game ended.

We couldn't really discern a way of speeding things up much either, short of not discussing anything at all or not stopping for food and pretend mulled wine or, and this would obviously be absurd, not reading the flavour text in a densely dramatic fashion.

Currently prepping for our second Imperial Assault night. I've almost got the entire Imperial faction painted now:

We started at 7.30 last time and finished at midnight after 2 missions. Starting at 3 this week, and aiming to get through at least 3 or 4, starting with a mission to rescue the Wookie player's brother.

I love the side mission structure in this; the campaign progression goes Story mission, Side mission, Story mission, Side mission etc until the campaign ends after about 10 missions total. The players get a choice between 2 side missions every time they finish a story mission, these 2 options being randomly chosen from the side mission deck. The deck is constructed so there are a number of general missions, a number of Hero missions (involving a character from the movies) and a number of player missions. The latter are great: each rebel player gets their own personal side mission that expands their character's story. It's really quite ingenious.

Also, as the Imperial player, I sometimes get to give them the option of doing a third, rock hard mission. If they don't choose it, I get a reward (eg, Darth Vader) immediately. Muha.

Those models look so good painted, you've done a great job there. I'm really interested in imperial assault but don't think it would be worth it as it would be tough to find enough people and spare time to make the most of it.

Ta!

Yeah, you really need the full 5 players to see it at its best. Tried playing it with the missus, with her controlling 2 heroes, and it was OK. Not great, but OK. With 5 people, an Imperial and 4 heroes, it's bloody brilliant.

The closer you get to 5 the better really!

I actually found your "I've got an extra copy, who wants it for £50" post while searching for this thread this morning DML. Did you manage to get rid of it in the end?

Jeez. That's a hell of a deal for whoever got it. It's at £90 in my local BG shop.

Yeah it was. But I got a pretty good deal too, I ended up with the base game and two character expansions for about £25!

The base game was about £65-£70 at the time and I bought Chewbacca and Han on top for like £8.99 each I believe. Then they sent me two copies of everything including the expansions.

strawberry float. Those were the days.

EDIT: Thinking of doing some themed food for Sunday. Going to start with a rAT-ATouille, followed by a plain ham sandwich. A Ham Solo, if you will.

Which edition were you playing? I've heard the second edition wasn't as quick or streamlined.

It's the 3rd edition I've got. Just had a quick look at the 2nd, didn't expect the game to have changed quite so much going to the 3rd. The newer version looks a lot nicer at least, and I like the splitting up of the rule book into a How to Play and a quick reference guide.
