Not a card game per se but based on one - has anyone played the Monopoly card game? Got it for Xmas as a stocking filler and it's pretty good fun with a few other people. There's a companion app which is a bit lame and unnecessary but the core gameplay is great. First player to get 3 complete sets of property wins, but you can steal other players cards and claim rent etc, pretty neat.

It really is a great game. I'm just gutted I rarely get the time to play. The friends I play with work opposite shifts to me so it takes a lot of organising.

We got the base one (had it down to 4 locations) then knew where it was the second time but they properly blocked it off :(

How the hell did it take 7 hours? Were you really slow or took lots of breaks? The natural round timer should ensure the game doesn't take that long.

Our games vary from 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on how effective rebels are at progressing the propoganda/ influence tracker.

2vs2 without using the other side of the cards. (Stops for drinks, snacks, pizza)

I.e. every decision is discussed and chatted about. It took them 20 minutes to decide a base location.

Love that game so much and it never dragged :)

Ah didn't realise you were playing 2 v 2. It is a great game and although long it never feels it, time flies!

Yep. We've looked at the proper 2v2 - and it looks like it'd cut down on some of the discussion as you each have own roles, it looks REALLY dull.

Got to build a Death and Destroy a Planet this time

Jeez. I'd love to have a punt at Rebellion but that's way too long for a single game.

Saying that, the last time we played Imperial Assault we lasted 4 hours, and that was just 2 missions. We're going for at least 3 this Sunday.

Oh I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy it, it's more than I have trouble getting people to sit down for 3 missions over 4 hours let alone 1 mission over 7. I think I prefer shorter missions as there's a sense of conclusion before moving on rather than the slow grind of one long mission.

So against all restraint I've bought Fury of Dracula. Still need to have my second game of Rebellion but a game of FoD will probably come first.

Really need to play some more Eldritch Horror as well. I have so many games now, it's insane. And these new 3 take quite a bit of time to play. But they are so, so awesome.

I have Fury of Dracula. Only played it once. It was enjoyable but the rules book isn't very good, it went pretty slowly and the combat was confusing.

Pretty sure we made a lot of mistakes but the rules reference really didn't help and as a result it felt the game was tilted massively in favour of Dracula.

Looking forward to trying again and seeing if it gets better once we have better idea of rules and tactics.

Fury of Dracula is great but it just has an inherent problem of being way, way too long. The first proper game we played was around 7 hours until it kind of petered out, and the second game I semi-deliberately got myself killed as Dracula because we were pushing 8 hours.

Did you semi-deliberately lie just there to make yourself sound like a cool Dracula?

He thought he could take on three hunters at once, but got murdered before the fight even began.

Stare directly at the sun. Good for you. Vitamin D.

I mean in the sense that I went for the fight rather than attempting to flee and potentially prolonging the game.

Though I did expect to last more than literally 1 second. :slol:

Sounds like you weren't playing it correctly because after 3 game weeks the despair token is full and Dracula gains influence every turn, because of this games should never last that long (average gamer speed would mean 3-4 hours max)
