I just saw a cockroach in my bathroom :dread:

this js the first time in 16 years of living here that I've seen one. The dream is over

Time to call an exterminator to see what they can do.

My first year here, I only found one and that was in October.

Last year most of the summer was similarly cockroach-free, then I got about a dozen in September.

Had my first of the year on Saturday, and then spent all day today blasting my apartment and sealing up any possible entrances. They'll still no doubt find a way in.

I miss how vanilla everything is in the UK. Our bugs are just dull and unassuming. Just like the weather and the people.

The few UK insects that make me scream like a little girl are wasps, hornets, earwigs and 'devils coach horse' beetles.

Had a huge hornet in my bedroom the other week whilst I was the only person in the house and I was literally sweating in fear for the half an hour before anyone came back home.

Spiders however don't bother me at all (unless they're particularly massive).

Canada. Yeah most of the bugs here are pretty dull as well, but I'd still rather have them outside my home.

I've seen a few cockroaches in our apartment, evidently some strawberry floater elsewhere in the building lives like a pig. The landlord must not have plumped for a good extermination package, because we got them after their treatment.

Now we have diatomaceous earth spread around the place like flour. That should kill them. I hope. And any bed bugs running around here - like the one we spied yesterday.

Guy in the office likes to kick his shoes off and go around in just socks, I have no issue with that, theres no odour and if it makes you comfy go for it. Except I just saw him in the bathroom and he doesnt put shoes on to go in there, hes still just in his socks. Thats not right, you dont know whats on that floor.

Have you considered that he might know exactly what's on the floor and that's why he doesn't put his shoes back on to go in there?

I had not and I am now thoroughly disgusted by him.

Why is it any different to the bottom of his shoes touching the bathroom floor. They touch the floor everywhere else the same as socks.

The fact that 'spills' might soak through your socks and touch your feet :dread:

Unless your shoes are really crap, stuff tends not to soak through them and to your skin.

hahaha no, but I guess it depends on how messy the loos are, if it is just a puddle of piss and gooseberry fool I wouldn't go in there unless I really needed to, but really I can't see it being much of an issue or at least being the most disgusting thing in the world.

What's the medical reason for not flying in those scenarios? Why do they advise against it and do you get refunded?
