There are always a selection of films the terrestrial channels purchase the rights to a play on a loop. With ITV it's Harry Potter (constantly), James Bond, Carry On and On The Buses; with the others it's Ace Ventura, Tomb Raider and Air Force One.

Reading the posts about which stations constantly loop films made me realise I don't think I've ever seen the original Star Wars trilogies on terrestrial TV, only the prequels.

I'll probably just watch Doctor Who, The Entire Universe, Robot Wars and Sherlock.

You must have big eyes.

The Entire Universe is a unique collaboration from the creators of Spamalot, starring Professor Brian Cox, and combines fascinating facts about the birth of the universe with larger-than-life comedy characters penned by the legendary Eric Idle.

In this special programme, Professor Brian Cox will initially appear in the manner to which he is accustomed by giving an auspicious scientific Christmas lecture.

That does have the potential to be amazing.

Why would we want to watch a Christmas film then?

I have it on bluray, just disappointed not to see it in the Christmas bit like it was last year.

I haven't followed the TV listings for years, have they been this dull in this time? I remember BBC2 would usually show some Classical Hollywood films (Singin' In The Rain on Christmas Day was a delight) and Channel 4 would have a couple interesting choices. I guess with the prevalence of Netflix and other services now that no effort is made, just throw some Pixar/Dreamworks and comic book adaptations at the listings and that'll do.
