Graphene sieve can make seawater drinkable.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-39482342

Seawater is safer to drink than tap water as that has been poisoned by water companies who add fluoride to it

Let's hope some value created by this UK discovery finds its way back into the wider economy. UK Universities & industry are notoriously detached.

Lots of agenda driven stories on the BBC today, diesel cars (environmental), Moyes slap comment (political correctness), No deal downside (Brexit), Syria chemicals (anti Assad).

Woohoo! Now millions of people that contribute nothing to the world will have the chance to reproduce more than they have already done so and waste the oxygen and water

I'm going to be the Devils Advocate and say, So What?

Land Locked countries in Africa won't have Salt Water they'll will Stagnant, dirty and diseased water.

This will create more problems in Africa as countries will begin to Blackmail one another over Water.

We need SAFE drinking water.

Fabulous

Keep this kind of lateral thinking up and maybe everything on this Planet will one day sleep easy, have shelter, a enjoyable fulfilling life and more than sufficient to eat

And then who knows, Alien life might then well get in touch

Is anyone else thinking new ultra-thin condom technology?

This is great news for poor African countries. They'll need to roll their sleeves up to pay for this technology though; no such thing as a free meal ticket.

Vaping shops are selling to non-smokers.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39523857

I tried to watch porn and it asked if I had thrashed one out before.

I just tried to buy a new thimble. They told me I wasn't allowed because I wasn't wearing a suit of jousting armour.

I wanted to buy some lingerie items for my girlfriend once but left the shop empty handed when I couldn't prove I wore them too...

Apparently you can only sell alcohol free beer to drinkers.

Does Dorris behind the cigarette counter in Asda ask everyone who buys a pack of 20 if they have smoked before?

Should legal adults wishing to purchase Vodka be refused if they have not drunk beer first?

What is wrong with these people... do they get so wrapped up in their sanctimonious bubbles that they can't see the most simple of common sense?

I don't even understand that vaping thing.

And my phone's autocorrect kept trying to change that to 'gaping'.

2/3rds of the Great Barrier Reef damaged.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-39524196

the coral reef? quick BBC, get tim farron on for his observations.
somehow he will manage to blame donald trump for this "capitalist, right wing induced tragedy"

Global warming is a myth propagated by foreign governments to cripple our economy

oh no! the environment! quick, lets link hands on tower bridge and sing peace songs!
these are natural fluctuations in temperatures as the end of the ice age was, 11,000 years ago.

Judging by the comments, the indoctrination of our youth with regards to man made global warming is almost 100% complete. How sad it is that an entire generation is growing up believing the worst about mankind. What a difference from the optimism and can do attitude of the post WWII generation. Hopefully, when the climate change hoax has run its course, the next generation won't be so gullible.

ACCEPT DEATHS. Every living thing dies, we should learn to control emotions & we move on

Wars. Males lions invade a pride killing it's male & cubs. predator v prey.

diseases high death rates short term but immune system would will evolve.

murder. 90% of robins die from other robins.

natural deaths, it's sad when it comes but we know it will happen

What bothers me is that humans may be eliminating our own ancestors. Haven't we all evolve from algae?

Batman trains lots of apprentices at the same time. The final test is a fight to the death between the Robins and only one may emerge as his new sidekick.

I assume this guy doesn't take any medication when he gets sick, or seeks medical help when he's injured.

I looked it up and while robins can be territorial against other robins, the robin on robin death rate is 10% not 90%...

Credit card with a fingerprint sensor revealed.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-39643453

Well then I guess the mrs can't go to the shops with your card now!

Good.

Now the 92 Original Earth Goods have been apparently been Hi-Jacked by Educated Arte Art Design Mafia, the only Digit it will ever truely recognise in the end of the human Spirit is the Middle One, the one given to the Planet that Supplied Sourced Dreaming in the first place...Keep it up, your J*** are doing Great at blanding the Landscape as far as the Buy can see.

Have they solved problem of people who do hard work real jobs like Builders,Garderners,Oil rig workers , Chefs, Waitors Any hard labour job wear there finger prints off.

So the finger system does not work for them.

Im sure there work for the biased bigoted BBC staff non important vital job service to the uk.

Good luck with your next trip to the US if you finger prints get stolen from a credit card.

How to explain that you are not that person who did all the crimes with your fingerprints !!!!

Finger print sensors don't work!

What is more they have been tried in posh cars - the result was that the car was still stolen simply by the expedient of cutting off the owners finger.

Don't go there - it is a very bad idea that will result in many people loosing an index finger.

"It is not something that can be taken or replicated."

Err hello. Fingers can be cut off.

Same reason i'm not in favour of retina scanning. I like my eyeballs to stay in my head in my head, not some criminals fridge.

John_from_Hendon - don't you think the stores will be a little suspicious when you pull a sebered finger out of your jacket at the point of sale.....haven't you noticed the increase reporting of severed fingers since apple introduced fingerprint readers on iPhones?

Just watched a documentary about the Titanic on Youtube that reported that three out of the twelve dogs on board survived in lifeboats.

Tom tonka3 days ago
Wait 3 dogs got a seat on lifeboats ahead of people? Bahahahahahaha that's hilarious

Tombo3 days ago
Dogs are still a living creature so what makes them less important than humans
Reply 4

Four likes for someone claiming dogs had as much right to lifeboat seats as humans on the Titanic :simper:

The UK/Ireland border post Brexit.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39867790

If the EU insist on a hard brexit as seems likely the Irish government could lose immediate access to its largest export partner the UK and would have trouble getting goods to mainland europe through the UK without lots of paperwork. Their govt should have a quick referendum vote on whether to leave and do as we have.Without leaving the EU Ireland could become a very bad place to live very quickly

The only way to secure a border to the level promised by the Leave campaign is with a wall that is regularly patrolled/controlled along its entire length. In the Schengen zone the people of Europe realise that 50'000 kms worth of walls is a big job.

More winging remoaners! Don't they realise their soverignty will keep them warm and well fed once we've left the EU. They don't need immigrants, there's millions of Brits clamouring for low paid farm labouring jobs.

Another example of the EU creating problems rather than solving them.

Brexit cannot come soon enough.

How about having a referendum to let the whole of Ireland decide if they want to be part of a bigger United Kingdom of part of the shrinking EU.

Either way it would bring the whole country together and solve a lot of problems.

The thing is, the Northern Irish can’t have it both ways. If they want an open border with the Republic they should leave the UK and become part of the Republic. If they want to remain part of the United Kingdom then they will have to accept a hard border between NI and Eire.

I think we have to recognize that what WE want from a border, to prevent unwanted immigration via the UK's back door, is not what the EU will want, stopping Irish people avoiding EU duties. Doing the former won't cost much, a small price for the UK to pay, doing the latter will be hugely difficult and expensive, so let the EU pay for it. I couldn't care less if the Irish can get stuff cheap in NI!

It is unlikely that 3rd world ethnic minorities will use dinghies to Rep. Ireland so as long as Ireland enforces the legal arrival of genuine EU citizens and deals with the individuals who use falsified EU passports, then the Ireland issue should be easy to deal with.

If ethnic minorities abuse the route to enter UK illegally via Ireland, then Border Force will need to check ALL Passports.

The easiest idea would be a hard border or as prefered by Eire they cough up say 1 million £ to have each Unionists leave for the UK & get a united ireland then block all irish from the rest of the UK with a hard border no trade & watch the die
