Burning wood and coal in people's homes will come under scrutiny as part of a government drive to improve air pollution.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-42873645

The sooner we get out of the EU and stop them beating us over the head with their 'clean air strategy' (that other European countries have the sense to ignore) the better. And as for the Green Meanies you can't win whatever you do - you can't use gas (CO2), oil (CO2, NOx, particulates) coal (CO2, NOx, partculates), Nuclear (radioactive waste) and now you can't even burn carbon-neutral logs !

Stall bloody eu until we're out then they can whistle for their fine

What's next? The air we breathe????
It's Dick Turpinism at its finest...At least he wore a mask when he robbed people.

The three biggest things we could do to stop climate change:
1. 1 kid per person. That's 2 for a couple.
2. Tax beef heavuky so that raising cows isn't worth it. Beef is the largest source of greenhouse gases.
3. Stop producing cement - it's a major source of greenhouse gases.

But limit kids, take away steak, and change all construction... Worldwide riots.

Glad I don't have kids.

Looks like a treehuggers persecution of the general public is cranking up another notch.

Geez...can this bunch of green hooligans not even allow us to enjoy our wood and coal fires like we have done for thousands of years without them thinking we are all out to kill everyone in the process.

Bunch of nut jobs the lot of them.

Think I'll go out and burn some garden rubbish and wet leaves.

WHAT A SELFISH IGNORANT AND MORONIC COMMENT

STICK TO READING THE MAIL AND TELEGRAPH

Man has burned wood for time immemorial to cook, light and warm.

Doing so now makes you a pariah.

Join the dots and it comes back to the same old thing. There are now too many people. Fixing that is a touchy subject though...

Were will this madness end, the populous all being told to use east Antarctic penguin poo as a fuel it is harmless??

government happy for people to freeze or be impoverished for the sake of their global warming cult but they do not want to tackle the problem at source by reducing the population - to the contrary - they prefer to instead pack the country to the rafters with as many people as possible to give them every excuse to bring in ever-more draconian laws and controls

how about 'no - buzz off'?

I shall take as much notice of any statute on this as I do the radio licence or the dog licence. They can't jail all of us.

He wore that mask because of all the air pollution.

At least identifying overpopulation as an issue isn't wrong

It is when you word it as "There are now too many people. Fixing that is a touchy subject though... " which makes it sound like you are promoting a cull of people.

Nothing wrong with that

You just get everyone to vote on whether it's a good idea to cull people, and cull all the ones who vote yes

It is wrong when your country has a decreasing birth rate...

http://www.worldometers.info/world-popu ... opulation/

The only reason your population is increasing, as with most first world countries, is due to immigration.

The person who pointed out that cows produce the most greenhouse gases has the right idea, kind of, agriculture and industry pollute far more heavily than a few people with old wood fire stoves, but governments don't like to regulate industry as much as there is a risk it could cause unemployment.

Population at a global scale is the primary cause of pollution, as agriculture and industry exist to support the population. It is possibly to sustainably support the global population, but we aren't doing, so it is an issue, albeit not a simple one.

Lagamorph special: Biscuits and chocolates take the 'shrinkflation' test.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42864685

This is a good thing. No one needs to eat biscuits and chocolate. Your researchers should be focusing on how to stop our national obesity epidemic.

Brexit will fix all this. After we leave we'll be able to arrange an FTA with the African Chocolate producing countries, instead of charging them the protectionist EU tariffs.

I think it's a good thing! less sweets = better health. Nobody needs to eat all theese Horrible, over sweet things!

There are some seriously thick people on here.Charging more and shrinking package sizes won't stop the people with the problem here. The fat slobs who consume too much of this won't care what price these things are.The same as charging more for alcohol won't make certain people cut down. And if you do want to eat this kind of thing then that's your choice, worth exercise more to compensate.Simples.

Kit Kat chunky

was going to be called

Kit Kat voluptuous

but the inevitable
"backlash followed by # campaign and boycott"
was deemed to be too risky........

This is nothing new, my father worked in the cigarette industry in the 1960s and 70s, he told me how they used to reset the machines every year to take 1mm off the length of the cigarette, nobody noticed

Has anybody blamed Brexit yet ?

If not, it won't be long..... They never miss a chance

good news as it will stop the fattys!

Really? An artical about chocolate prices without even the slightest mention of a Freddo? Its like youre not even trying.

E-cigarettes should be available on prescription, according to Public Health England (PHE).

I could probably find lots of funny/depressing stuff on here, but I have decided that only Staydead's comment should be highlighted.

Larger is less harmful than Vodka if you drink the same volume

Can I have that for free on the NHS as well please?

Pardoning suffragettes.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42951817

Corbyn is known for his support for violent extremists.
Regardless of if they were in the right, if somebody committed a violent crime they are a criminal. End of.

Pardoning them is legitimising violent protest. So the thugs from Antifa who on video trashed stores, looted and burned, beat up counter protestors.... thats all ok if you ally with their end goals?

NO IT F*CKING ISNT!

I guess if Hollywood can rewrite history for it's use then why can't the gender brigade?

Sure, a noble gesture.

But I'm pretty sure there's plenty others who would argue the same in Ireland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, China, etc for their varying rights (rightly or wrongly).

Let's REWRITE ALL HISTORY so that the ends justifies the means.

After all, what is history if it can't be erased?

...and now our society is in ruins, but it's still good that we had this, apparently.

I think the celebration of the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 has been disgustingly hijacked by radical feminists.

The act also gave men over 21 the right to vote too, though this has been completely overlooked. An utter disgrace given the millions of young men who sacrificed their lives for king and country in WW1 prior to the act being passed.

THE SACRIFICE OF MEN

1922 was the final date women got the vote 4 years after the men got the vote. Women were never left behind at all.

And it was only because of the sacrifice of millions of British men fighting for their country in terrible conditions in Europe.

It should be a moment to thank the men and celebrate unity.

But instead hatred can sell newspapers.

Perhaps there are better things to spend money on than pardoning dead thugs.

Many of these ladies broke the law. I can’t see how that can be pardoned.

Law breakers = Criminals. And that goes for the ladies too. Equal rights is equal rights.

Quite a unique case.

In this instance a pardon is probably acceptable.

Jeremy Corbyn would give pardons to the IRA and all terrorists if he could.

its a pity they didnt fight for the country in ww1, instead of hindering the authorities..millions of men were slaughtered for their freedom to protest..

And meanwhile Emmeline Pankhurst was handing out white feathers with her grandmother shaming those men into getting slaughtered. The feminist movement is still happy for men to die yet want our support

The BBC are on a feminist love in this week.....

BBC represents everyone.....as long as you tick a PC box that is....

Middle aged, middle earning, white men might as well be dead to them

I demand a pardon for William Wallace, oh and while were about it how about pardoning my Uncle Jimmy who got hung for horse theft in 1687, or my Auntie Jane who was hung in 1702 for belting an MP with a stale bread roll.
