The Crystal Maze to return to television without David Tennant as host

The Crystal Maze is to return to our television screens this autumn after 21 years off air.
The problem-solving game show, which ran from 1990 to 1995, is returning to Channel 4 in October with the former Doctor Who actor David Tennant reportedly lined up to follow the footsteps of Richard O’Brien and Ed Tudor-Pole as the host.

The classic game show will form part of Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer night, with celebrities as the contestants.
"Even two decades after it last aired, there are very few shows that have been as magical and action-packed as The Crystal Maze. It is still remembered extremely fondly today," a source told The Sun.
"Channel 4 are hoping to tap into that nostalgia and believe viewers will jump at the chance to finally take on the show’s adventurous challenges themselves."
If the ratings are good there is the possibility of a new series.
At the show’s height it attracted between four to six million viewers.
It will not be the first revival of the show. Last year, an interactive Crystal Maze experience was successfully crowdfunded.

Nice. Glad to see it back, even if it is just a one-off for now.
Not sure I can see Tennant signing up to do a full series of it though, even if he is a good shout for hosting.

I thought the main reason it hasn't been tried again was the cost of building the set.
So it doesn't make any sense then they would build it for a one-off show

If they are renting / using the set done for that kickstarter thing then they will be mitigate that cost I imagine.

Hopefully the "celebs" (no doubt loads of people from various reality shows) that don't complete the tasks in time will just remain locked in the mazes forever.
Those that do complete the tasks will live to steal a living for another day.

I know who is hosting. It isnt David Tennant. It is however a big name.
