Thought it was all right, though I only played the demo of the first too.

The control system is impressively fluid.

EDIT - No, you know what, I really enjoyed that, cel shading and all.

Demo was alright actually. I might actually buy this with actual cash money.

Gameplay is pretty good yeah, but I can see this suffering from Condemned 2 syndrome. Despite the Darkness powers, the original was quite down to earth and believable in it's characters, this seems to be going for all out ridiculous and I'm not sure I like that.

Uncle Paulie was an amazing villain, as was that corrupt cop, though his name escapes me. Very real and threatening men. It's just a little disheartening to see the second one featuring a zombified man man with a magic stick.

This. No game has ever made me cry out for revenge as much as The Darkness. Major motivation to finish the game, one I've never really felt this strongly before.

Just watched Jenny's death scene on YouTube and even completely out of context it's still difficult to watch. It's probably the single most effective (and effecting) death in gaming since Aeris, and it's handled with much more maturity that that one.

Anyone know if they've got Mike Patton back as the voice of The Darkness? Jackie's voice being different I can take, but it's wouldn't be the same with Patton's otherworldly rasping.

Some of the gameplay is annoying as strawberry float (I'm thinking the WWI sections) but the narrative through-line is amazing. Has to be one of the best stories in gaming and not because of any twists or gimmicks but simply because the characters are so real.

Those
WW1
sections were the worst of the game for me, but looking back on it as a whole I can see how they worked and why they were there. I wouldnt mind playing again but forget doing it on the 360 again.

Im probably alone in this but the atmosphere of those sections was so good that i didnt mind them at all. Also i love anything about WW1 which helped alot. But just the whole thing really felt like hell, no evil demons and brimstone, butbeing stuck in a war that never ends, the soldiers literally being stitched back together to fight, and never being able to die, it was strawberry floating amazing. Yeah the gameplay wasnt great in it (and the darkness guns were actually bloody useless), but it was one of the most nightmarish things ive ever seen in a game.

The Darkness is one of the few games I really, really enjoyed that I've never replayed, and I think those sections are a large part of why. Not because they were so tedious to play (even though they were) but because they're so horrible to experience from a conceptual point of view. They're genuinely disturbing. I didn't enjoy them in the same way you don't enjoy the rape scene in Irreversible, but the experience of suffering through it makes the experience of the whole that much better

strawberry float, that sounds really weird.

I found the WW1 sections a nice change in pace and setting and the horror of the situation was quite well done, don't get the hate :?

The Darkness , another amazing game that deserved to be played on 60fps on the pc instead of the slides how version that was on ps3. I still loved the game even though I played the 360 version.

Anyone that thought The Darkness was good, needs to play Escape from Butcher Bay.
