Dude. Seriously?

If I was bothered by that kind of thing, wouldn't I be praising MS to the rafters and saying they won rather than saying they were second place behind a very impressive Nintendo showing? I also mentioned several misgivings about Kinect even given that, as a dad with a four-year-old who's just getting into games, I really rate it as an entry point. I think my wife will like it to. The fact that I'm able to appreciate content that's not exclusively focused on the hardcore means I'm taking the MS dollar, does it? Please.

To be totally honest, none of the three blew me away. Nintendo announced some excellent titles, but there was little to nothing worthwhile on Wii from third-parties. Behind the scenes, though, 3DS is impressive just about everyone.

Rudderless, that's exactly how I felt watching the three conferences.

You're just saying that because you get to take home one of the 3DS padlocked ladies.

The comment about software and hardware sales collapsing (in the Cracked article, opening post), is that true?

OK, maybe a bit harsh, but it got the biggest reaction and it certainly finished the show on a massive high for the audience. I thought the Sony show kinda fizzled out, they should have finished on Last Guardian, they've had a year to put together another trailer for God's sake.

Whatever you think about my previous inflammatory comments, I still think Sony had the better show of the two, but I agree it dragged in parts and they could have done a lot more, in less time.

Thanks, man. I'm going hands-on with Forza Kinect this morning so will report back on that later, as well as 2K's stuff and more.

Sorry, I felt I had to do something before the jealousy actually ate me alive.

About the whole going to E3 thing, not the woman.

It's actually really hard to get an overview of everything and to see everything you want to see. It's just mental - yesterday I had to run about a mile from one appointment to another. The show floor's like a maze and the queues for the really big games are crazy, even given that they've admitted fewer people (apparently) this year.

There's stuff here I'm only finding out about from reading threads on here and rllmuk. Though I can't deny the fact that I'm enjoying myself. It's a fascinating experience. Today's going to be absolutely mental.

Tycho from Penny Arcade recently just made a very funny post about "women who are paid to tolerate you."

I pretty much agree with him. I'd find it very awkward indeed.

Yeah, it's very weird. I was speaking to another journo today and we were discussing people who have their pictures taken with these girls. Why? "Here's a picture of me with a woman who's way out of my league." It's all very odd.

Really? Microsoft didn't show anything interesting at all really, I felt Move came across much better than Kinect - at least Move actually has original games as opposed to me-too shovelware.

Well, Sorcery was arguably the highlight of Sony's conference, but while perhaps a little too long was spent on Kinect, Microsoft's showing was slick and better-paced. Sony's seemed to drag on forever. And the Kevin Butler stuff, while sporadically amusing, was a self-indulgence too far - it would have meant nothing to those unaware of him, and E3 is a worldwide stage. Loads of nonplussed Japanese attendees, for example.

Surely the ESPN stuff was more US focused than Kevin Butler, I was nodding off throughout that.

Having Gabe Newell come out at the Sony conference was absolutely huge imo, that is a BIG strawberry floating deal, bigger than anything Microsoft showed.

It says something about Sony's showing that the announcement of a release date of a game it's trailed for years was one of the highlights. Some might not like Kinect but a lot of what they showed for it really isn't shovelware. Casual-focused? Of course. A bit too 'me too'? Sure. But the tech's interesting, the voice stuff's pretty cool, and it's more than just the more precise version of the Wii remote that Move is.

They have no original games, if every experience they're offering is available on Wii, what is the point in it? It's not that it's not for me - I have a wife and kids too - it's that despite the impressive tech, they're not offering anything new.

Sony's conference was too long, I'll admit, maybe they'd had to pull some stuff late on. (<- Don't read anything into that.)

Yeah I don't get that, when I've been with a few mates and we split up into twos to explore the show, we met back up later and I had about two dozen photos of some of the stands, hardware, cool stuff on display etc. They had about a hundred photos of them with every booth babe (in many of which they were creepily close to girls), I just don't get it. ¯\(°_o)/¯

That said, I did sleep with a booth babe I met at London Games Week a few years back. 8-)

No more focused than a US-targeted ad campaign. Yeah, the ESPN stuff was dull, I agree.

It's only a big deal in the context of what he's said before. Ultimately it just means a game is coming out on PS3 as well as 360. Had Portal 2 been PS3-exclusive (or timed exclusive), THAT would have been huge.

I think in this case playing is believing. It's not massively different, but it feels different enough. Also, Dance Central. And Forza. And Child of Eden.

Steamworks on PS3 IS huge, but it's a bigger coup for Valve than it is for Sony.
